Having just seen Lee... I wouldn't count out Globe and SAG nominations for Winslet. The industry loves her, this movie is her baby and it's playing much better with audiences than it did with critics, and she's blitzing the press trail hard.

The movie is also doing quite well at the box office in some European markets like UK and Germany so I could see the UK/European bloc going for her.
Meanwhile Saoirse's The Outrun seems to be dead on arrival at the box office.

After hearing of lacklustre reactions to Blitz and the reception of The Outrun, I no longer believe Ronan is happening this year. Winslet could take her place in a heartbeat being the veteran.

I still think Ronan I probably safe for a nom Yeah, I definitely think Ronan is still a strong contender. With Winslet, it will all depend on if voters actually watch her film. If they do, I think she's in for sure. We'll see if the precursors bite, encouraging more people to watch. |
