I had the impression Kyrgios wasted too many energies talking instead of playing. In the last set no break points. I was afraid it could have gone to the 5th set, but the tie break was basically dominated by Djokovic. He had a meltdown every time there was a little pressure in his service games. Embarrassing stuff, truly. When asked at the end if this made him hungry for more? "Absolutely not", and you know he meant it too  |

Congrats to Djokovic. Expected result. Only Nadal (a fit version) in the final would have made this a match where the result was uncertain. How a 35 year old and a 36 year old are still so much ahead of the field at majors is ridiculous at this point, but there you go.
Guess Djokovic had pulled clearly ahead of Federer into the #2 spot on the Greatest Male Tennis Players Of All Time list. Nadal still has the edge in majors and is the current GOAT, and he'll have more opportunities to add to his tally in the next few slams, especially if Djokovic doesn't get his jabs. Even with Federer essentially out of the race (though he could still win Wimbledon again with a Grass Field this terrible if Djokovic was out of the equation), the race to finish with the slam record is still pretty nail-biting. You gotta wonder when/if the younger generations will ever force Djokovic and Nadal out of contention?

So many great moments to post from today's historic win for the GOAT.......Very honest and revealing interview with Djokovic talking to Pat McEnroe and explaining how hard this year has been for him and a nice little shout out to John McEnroe at the end.
I don't think he's playing US - but if he does he could easily win it - certainly a bigger threat at this age on any hard court to win than Nadal is imo......but I do think he will play AO 23 in just 6 months and that's likely where he evens the slam count anyway.
This was a really big win because he had been on a skid - Olympics loss, US Open final loss, couldn't play AO 22, French loss of his title.......he's playing the long game and this tournament this year was a big part of it.....

Ben Rothenberg and Jelena Djokovic - the GOATs wife - in a Twitter spat btw.....I'm afraid Ben may go completely nuts when he ties or passes Nadal in Grand Slams - which will happen btw ......just an embarrassing Wimbledon for Ben - he really hates Djoko - didn't even attend his post match press conference and was there.....stay classy Ben.....

I generally can't stand Rothenberg and his trolltastic tendencies, but it's not as if his ire is reserved exclusively for Djokovic.
What's funniest to me in this whole nut-gargling, dick-measuring (other peoples dicks) farce of a fictitious contest is how all these three guys fanbases have started to resemble the dudes themselves - Federer's fans with their superiority complex, their belief in the right way of doing things, how everything was better in the old days, etc. Nadal fans with their inferiority complex, their belief he's always the underdog, that he is always the one having to fight uphill even as he stands currently atop the mountain, and Djokovic fans with their persecution complex, their belief everyone is out to get him, and their downright militant need to be loved. The fact that even his wife, who started this spat over a pretty matter-of-fact statement, is getting caught up in this shit is hilarious.

It actually goes back to when Djokovic used to do impressions of Nadal which had to be like 15 years ago I guess - which was funny then...........but........... It's sort of like that thing in politics where you see that video of Trump in the audience watching Obama make fun of him and he theoretically decided to run for President at that exact same moment |

Quite a day: Rybakina wins, Ruud OUT (6-0 in 5th set, thanks for showing up at all Casper), Medvedev, Zverev advance, Murray up 2 sets to 1 over Tsitsipas, continues tomorrow......also tomorrow Djokovic, Swiatek, Alcaraz ......... if Stan Warinka beats Djokovic tomorrow he will be only the 2nd man to beat him at all 4 Slams - along with Federer........Djokovic of course is the only man to beat Nadal AND Federer - both of them - in all 4 Slams - Nadal never did it to either - because he is not that good is he?.........oh does that offend you, yah?   |
