Rybakina (Kazakh, remember) is cute as a button. Hitting through Halep, even now, is super hard. Anisimova and Badosa could not do it, and this kid who has never been on Centre Court went out and whipped her ass without a care in the world. We're going to have a great champion either way.

Jabeur - the highest ranked female left (#3) is the first person into the final..... The women's final definitely looks interesting. Both Jabeur and Rybakina have played really well this tournament and it will be an interesting match because their styles, even though they work very well on grass, are so different. Rybakina has a huge serve and really powerful groundstrokes, while Jabeur has really great touch with her racquet and likes playing close to the net. Both have something in common, that they are somewhat error prone. So the match could be anything between an entertaining, high quality offering to an error ridden mugfest. It certainly will be competitive though, as I think there is no clear favorite. Both have equal chances of winning this.

Well, hopefully Nadal's withdrawal will shut up all the salty Djokovic fans on social media crying about him "faking" injury for some form of competitive advantage. Shame, as it was great that he got this far, but if he can't serve, he's not going to win the title and could potentially make the injury worse. Nadal is already the player of the year based on his performance at slams and I wouldn't bet against him winning the US Open. Golden chance for Kyrigos to win a slam. He'll be insufferable for all time if he does it, but he can beat anyone on his day (especially Djokovic, who he has never lost to).

Well Baldnal went out here with an all-timer win - so I mean that's a huge achievement. It would have been highly unlikely he would have beat Djoko - they are 2-2 on grass - but Nadal hasn't beaten him on grass since 2008 and Djoko is 27 straight wins @ Wimbledon atm....... he's a different beast these days on that surface.......... and on hard courts too ( I don't think Nadal has beat Djokovic on any hard court since 2013). The last decade has shown the Djoko dominance on non-clay surfaces vs. Nadal - on the other hand - it would have been nice to have seen a 60th matchup - 30-29 Djokovic atm Kyrgios could theoretically beat them both at this stage of their careers - though he's hard to assess and you don't know who shows up or how his mental game will be ........... he's 2-0 vs Djoko - both on hard courts - both 2017.........though I'm not sure he doesn't make a shit ton of errors if he plays Djoko in his robotic "I'm getting everything back to you pal" frustrating playing style mode. Congrats to Kyrgios on his first final though........he's always a blast to watch ........this has been a fun tournament, lots of drama, plot lines......and we may get a new male champ and we are obviously getting a new ladies champ....

Norrie a set up against Djokovic, who is far from unbeatable on grass, but has benefited immensely from the weakest grass field in men's tennis arguably in history. Even down a set, Djokovic is still favorite to win this match. The fact that he might match and/or surpass both Sampras and Federer (yes, he beat him in 3 finals, but only an old, past it version of Fed) in Wimbledon titles is outright bizarre, as they are both manifestly better grass court players than him, peak for peak. I don't think Djokovic wins more than 3 Wimbledon titles in the 90's, if that. I feel like the ideal scenario this Wimbledon is for Norrie to somehow win. Djokovic having as many Wimbledon titles as Sampras feels weird, and Kyrigos already obnoxious ego doesn't need to be ramped up by a Wimbledon title. And the Brits would get another champ after Murray. Won't happen, but anything is possible .

Norrie and Djokovic are giving us a clay court mugfest on grass and I refuse to watch two (or three) more sets of this crap. This is one of the worst Wimbledon matches I've watched quality wise.

Pretty dull and mostly ugly match - that's of course one of the knocks against Djoko is that his game is not aesthetically pleasing as Federer - or as exciting as Satan - but in terms of winning matches and being the best across all surfaces (he is, admit it) - it means not only can he win ugly........but that he often strives to make you lose ugly specifically too. What people need to remember is not only is he maybe tying Sampras with 7 Wimbledons this year - he got rooked in 2020 with the tournament being cancelled or he'd likely be going for his 8th on Sunday to tie Fed. On the other hand, maybe start showing up in the 1st set once in a while........he served great today, which maybe was a preview if he's on form Sunday. Also he was a Punk Rock / Rock Star prick today staring down the crowd after a big ace and blowing kisses to the crowd after set point.....

I feel like Grass is the least competitive surface because so few players play on it, people are beginning to realise that and the prestige of Wimbledon is going to keep dwindling unless they somehow increase the number of Grass court tournaments on the tour significantly (unlikely, as it's so expensive to maintain) to improve players proficiency on it, or they change the surface. It's an obsolete surface. Clay and Hard are the only surfaces that really matter to most players.
I mean, a geriatric 36 year old Nadal is probably the 2nd best active Grass Court player in the world, and before this year he hadn't played on Grass in 3 years. It's embarrassing for the tour. At 41 or 42 years old, Federer still has a realistic chance of winning this tournament. He knows it as well, which is why he hasn't outright retired.

Side note: Ben Rothenberg has got to be the most tiresome, smug pretend to know it all tennis "expert" out there - a regular cherry picker of facts - or worse - when he fellates Nadal - and today he was flat out making stuff up out of nowhere for Serena which she doesn't need unless you're arguing Graf, ok? Can we just get it on the record that this dude is a PoS asshat? ^ Lots of talk online that he said nothing - zero - about Djokovic making his 32 Slam final, a record - and Djokovic is also the only guy to make it to 8 Grand Slam tournament finals in THREE different tournaments on 2 different surfaces. No one else has done it in more than 1 Grand Slam / surface. Nothing..............not 1 tweet, and apparently he walked out of the match when Djoko won the 2nd set ......... What a douchebag - if Krygios smokes Djoko (t hat could happen actually) - you won't be able to shut him up..........he's got to be the most dishonest pro sports journalist out there atm.......this dude used to write for the NY Times ffs..........I mean I call Nadal Satan and have fun with him because he's not the GOAT (imo) - but I also give credit where he deserves it............. I don't just disappear when he wins the French every year.........you're a pathetic-a, troll Ben

The women's final was a very messy match. Both were very nervous and it showed, since the net play was horrid from both, even though they showed some really good net skills this tournament. One point you had some good quality tennis and in the next some brainless play and errors. Rybakina was more composed in the end and won her first Grand Slam. Match was entertaining, even though the quality definitely wasn't at the level of a grand slam final. Also lol at Rybakina celebrating at the end there like she won a first round qualifier or something .

If it isn't Russell Crowe's weight, it's Nadal's hair, now this dude and the worst picture you can find of him. I don't know any straight man that does this as consistently as you do. Nothing wrong with being queer....be out and proud, I say! But yeah, you should know that this probably isn't the super-masculine ideal behavior you like to project. Rybakina was terrible in set 1 and Jabeur just cruised off the back of her errors, but when she started playing more like the way she has through the rest of the tournament in 2 and 3, Ons couldn't really live with her. Even when Jabeur tried luring her to net I thought she got better and better there as the match went along. She really grew into it, and at times even outdid Ons at her own game. I do think nerves probably got the best of Jabeur looking at how she was playing, though it manifested itself in less obvious ways than was the case with Rybakina in set 1. It wasn't an all out collapse, just minimal example of her playing her typical beautiful game. Looked like she was just desperately playing for the errors and after set 1 they never came. Total star performance from Rybakina, and the reaction afterwards really was just the best for a minute I thought she maybe forgot it was the final, but that's just the way she is. Now she takes the title back home to Moscow, just what this stupid fucking tournament deserves.

Congrats to Ryabkina - very placid and calm player - she keeps her emotions in check. I haven't seen her much but look forward to seeing her more. A lot of interesting things happening in female tennis - could conceivably get 4 different slam winners in 2022 ........

Well now Djoko broke him twice and is up 2 sets to 1.......in other news Ben Rothenberg has today called Djokovic THE BEST tennis player ever - which is sort of like ........hilarious......while simultaneously being 100% true.
Ben Rothenberg @benrothenberg Djokovic, who is the best male tennis player ever, is completely dialed in on returns.
Kyrgios is just hanging on at this point, more than the scoreboard yet shows.

Great Wimbledon final so far. Great tennis from both. Djokovic won a close 3rd set and is now up 2-1 and it seems he has the title in the bag. This is definitely his best performance in months and redeems himself for that shitfest against Norrie. Very high quality tennis from him. Kyrgios is also playing well, but I don't think he can keep up with Djokovic, especially mentally. He already started clowning in that last set.

I had the impression Kyrgios wasted too many energies talking instead of playing. In the last set no break points. I was afraid it could have gone to the 5th set, but the tie break was basically dominated by Djokovic.

High quality tennis. Great final. Probably the best Grand Slam final quality wise since the 2019 Wimbledon one. Only 17 unforced errors from Djokovic in 4 sets , but Kyrgios managed to keep it close with a great performance himself. The GOAT reaches his #21.

pacinoyes rises ........um.......... I said this before that Djokovic can beat people a lot of different ways - on the most kinds of surfaces - not all of them are aesthetically pleasing to watch - and while he beat Norrie ugly, this time he gave a very Djokovic performance in how he returned although his service game was fantastic too. I really can't believe he got some of those serves back. Djokovic hasn't lost on Centre Court.............. since 2013 ........7 Wimbledon titles now I'll update the totals in the "Big 3" thread - he set several records today also GOAT
