Swiatek - OUT, - 37 match streak ends Not that surprising a result tbh. Swiatek is great on clay, but her game isn't suited for grass at all and you can't go far in Wimbledon playing clay court tennis. It was clear that once she faced the first above average grass court opponent she would be out. I actually won 30 euros from this result as the odds for a Cornet win were ridiculously high, so I couldn't pass the opportunity for a little bet. I've also put a little money on a Tsitsipas win (lol at having Kyrgios as the favorite), but his serve is all over the place so far. He needs to improve it if he wants to win.

Great match between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas. Quality attacking tennis from both and the on court antics made the match even more entertaining. Quite disappointed with the result, as Tsitsipas just wasn't clutch enough in most of the crucial moments, but I think this is probably his best performance on grass and he has improved tremendously on this surface, which is definitely his weakest. Kyrgios looks very motivated this tournament and if he remains focused I think he can reach the semifinal. A Nadal - Kyrgios semifinal would be very interesting.

Nadal 's bossy attitude was really out of the rules. How dared he calling Sonego to complain about his grunting? That's the referee 's task. He even put his hand on Sonego 's chest to intimidate him. And this coming from someone who always takes more than the allowed 25 seconds without getting a warning, and doing his "head, shoulders, knees and toes - eyes and ears and mouth and nose" ballet every time he serves. Besides, he realized grunting was annoying only when he lost a break? Lame.

Tsitsipas-Kyrgios will surely go down as one of the matches of the year. Total petulance from both of them, but definitely added plenty of spice to what was already a generally very well played match. The press conferences afterwards were almost equally as fascinating Kyrgios pointing out how soft tennis players are being probably the highlight. Speaking of... Watching Sonego play his games, and watching Nadal give it back was beautiful. "I was distracted" Sonego bemoaned Don't play the game if you can't take it back after dishing it out. He tried to gamesmanship the gamesmanship king and got put in his place. Magnificent shenanigans at Wimbledon on Saturday night.

The passive aggressive nonsense in tennis where a guy is furious at his opponent and yells at the umpire when the guy is stood right there and can hear everything being said is comical, so I can't say I'm sick of seeing that idiotic aspect of tennis etiquette sidestepped. As far as being allowed to put his hands on contenders, yes, I don't think there's any law against touching each other.

Just think if this happened in football ā½ every time there's a foul. Being a top player means you can win easily by yourself without being bossy towards minor opponents, it doesn't allow you to bully them.

You are blowing this completely out of proportion over the idiotic niceties of tennis. It is really not that serious, and it is certainly no worse than innumerable other things that happened out on both show courts last night. Monfils did the exact same thing to Sonego in Rome, he just waited till the match was over. Also, he did win easily, and all by himself. No help from the umpire at all.

They should require him to serve in the 25 seconds to begin with. I'm not saying Sonego is a better player than Nadal. But Nadal complaining only when Sonego tied 4-4 in the third set makes him look petty. That said, I'm watching Silverstone grand prix right now

And only a real SWISS would be watching the Grand Prix when Wimbledon are playing on middle Sunday. Did you not even see your king? The man you ABANDONED your country for?

Van Rithjoven is ranked 104 in the world. He fluked a Grass court title this season, but he's never done anything in Slams and clearly isn't at that level in general as his ranking suggests. Djokovic looks good, but in part because his level of opposition isn't very strong. I think Sinner is too inexperienced at the latter stages of Grand Slams to present much trouble for Djokovic, so Novak will likely stroll to the final and the only one who could probably stop him from winning the title is Nadal (if he makes the final, of which there is no guarantee).
Carlos Alcaraz is facing some pretty harsh realities right now. A great talent, but can't exercise his game and his will at Slams like he's managed in 3 set tournaments. He's still very young, so it'd be unfair to write of that breathless potential too early (even someone like Federer took a few years for his game to click to being dominant at slam level), but comparisons to teenage Nadal at the same age are starting to look a bit silly. Carlos is nowhere near a good or dominant as 19 year old Nadal.

I'd never write off Djokovic making a comeback (he was down 2 sets to love in the French Open final last year against Tsitsipas and came back to win). And Sinner may start realising what he's about to do and start choking the match away. Happens all the time, expecially with the Big 3.
But again, it's not surprising that Djokovicās level in previous rounds was being exaggerated because his opponents were not good enough to know how good his level actually was. Sinner is top level player, so it's an actual challenge. I only felt that Sinner's lack of experience at this stage of a grand slam might hurt him, but he's rising to the occasion.
Still, if Djokovic goes out today, Nadal becomes the clear favorite to win the title and the Calender Grand Slam really does look possible.

I watched the women's quaterfinal between Tatjana Maria and Jule Niemeier, mostly out of curiosity just to see how the WTA #103 and #97, two players I wasn't familiar with at all, have reached a Grand Slam quaterfinal. The first set wasn't very good, probably due to nerves from both, but the quality of play in the other two sets was really good and both played some high level grass court tennis, which is pretty rare right now from the women. It actually felt like a match straight out of the 90s, probably the match with the most net points this tournament. Overall very entertaining.

Sinner's little injury in the last game of the third set doesn't sound good. Even if it's a small injury, it's still an issue.

The fact they play this way in this day and age is also probably part of the reason they are 97 and 103 Niemeier will surely rise much higher though. What a fucking house.

Sinner's little injury in the last game of the third set doesn't sound good. Even if it's a small injury, it's still an issue. It was the end of the 4th, and he was already down a double break. All hope was already lost by that point, and he looks fine, to be honest.
