Viola Davis, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Andra Day, The United States vs. Billie Holiday Vanessa Kirby, Pieces of a Woman Frances McDormand, Nomadland Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman
Trivia: The last time two black women were nominated together in this category (1972 - Diana Ross and Cicely Tyson), one of them was playing Billie Holiday, too.

Yeah this. Seems we have a pretty comfortable 5.

United States vs. Billie Holiday was so much better than I was expecting. I have to wait for the recency bias to settle down a little more, but I could DEFINITELY see Andra Day winning for this.

First of all, That's a nice picture of Monty. Second, I'm starting to believe that Rosamund hype.

First of all, That's a nice picture of Monty. Second, I'm starting to believe that Rosamund hype. The Comedy/Musical Globe winner last year (Awkwafina) was in a stronger position overall last year and she still couldn't make it. I don't really see a path for Pike.

First of all, That's a nice picture of Monty. Stanley Kubrick took it.

She won’t be nominated but it’s nice to see La Loren getting glowing praise for her peers

wilcinema - I really wouldn't be surprised if Loren is nominated. The only question is whose spot would she take? Vanessa Kirby's?

If Loren is taking any spot, is the fifth, which people are assuming is locked to Andra Day just because she won the Globe, but is not.

Day is not missing anymore. She has a Globe win that gave her huge visibility and she has vocal support from a lot of people. I don’t think Sophia is getting a nom, but if she did, it would be at Kirby’s expense.

Loren was my supporting actress win until I rewatched Borat 2. She gave such a tender performance as Madam Rose. I'd love to see her get nominated but definitely not at Kirby's expense. I wish she was campaigned in supporting.

Day is not a lock by any means. She missed both SAG and BAFTA longlist, her movie isn't widely seen and poorly reviewed and she is the only chance it has in any main categories. I'm still predicting her, but she's 5th by some distance.
Mind you, that doesn't mean Loren has a chance.

Loren is one of the biggest delusions I've seen in recent years.

And yeah, Day is definitely not 5th.

And yeah, Day is definitely not 5th. Are you saying that she's higher or lower?

Why is everyone sold on Kirby?

Why is everyone sold on Kirby? She's made it everywhere so far, and is likely to get in at BAFTA on her home turf. Whom would she miss out for?

Also, gorgeous actress that already appeared in a hit TV series, won the Volpi Cup at Venice, and her movie is on Netflix, meaning everyone and their mother in the world has access to it (meanwhile, Andra Day's movie is on Hulu, which is only available in the US and Japan)

I think the five nominees are all but locked, but pretty much any of them still have the potential to win. If I had to rank them, all I know is Kirby would be fifth.
