Close is such a commanding presence when she speaks. Get your Oscar girl!

This season is definitely the most unpredictable of the decade. Even 2016 wasn't as crazy.

SAG does not concern Roma at all. It's winning.

This was best case scenario for Roma.

Cooper has been robbed all season. It's a weak year, let's face it. Especially for leading actors. I love A Star is Born, and even I think Cooper was nothing special. I haven't seen Vice, but Bale was pretty awful in that clip they showed. Cooper is my #5 of the decade. Regardless of what you thought of the year as a whole, he is miles better than Malek.

SAG does not concern Roma at all. It's winning. Was Roma even SAG Ensemble-eligible? Aparicio and de Tavira shared their on-screen credit, and the rest of the ensemble were listed together.

This was best case scenario for Roma. This. Blackkklansman would have been a serious threat if it won here.

I cannot see Roma winning. Netflix has the most money to campaign it but I can't believe that the largely white, older demographic of the Academy is going to passionately go for a black and white, non-English movie. Green Book is the kinda movie that those types can embrace that also, in their senile minds, makes them feel progressive.

This night clearly adds even more strength for Roma overall and Ali - who is the class of that field (Grant notwithstanding he is very good but Ali is peerless here) and ..........Close.

They went for a amphibian-fucking love story last year and a black, gay coming-of-age indie the year before. Roma is far more embraceable than those two.

Green Book is winning. We are due for a controversial winner. Yes, and Roma, a black and white, 0 stars, subtitled, streaming Art film wouldn't be that

What's the last time a foreign language, black and white, slow cinema (wannabe) movie with zero recognizable actors won Best Picture? Refresh my memory. Also don't pretend The Shape of Water was some unconventional winner. It was a bullshit facade about the "magic of movies" that hit all the right social commentary cues on the checklist.

The fact that people are still claiming a movie that missed a director nod is winning just 'cause the obvious frontrunner doesn't fit the usual Oscar bait mold is still a puzzle to me. Green Book has literally half the Oscar nods Roma has and it missed the second most important category after BP, this is not winning. It just isn't.

Green Book’s controversy is due to race, Director and writer... Also it’s a basic as all hell movie but that’s neither here or there.

I would be careful about letting Green Book's director snub distract us from the fact that it's still a very real threat. That editing nomination is telling...

Green Book has literally half the Oscar nods Roma has and it missed the second most important category after BP, this is not winning. It just isn't. Green Book could still win even with the Director snub . . . but people are overlooking that Roma got a lot of support across almost every single branch it was eligible for, including two acting nominations (one a complete newbie, while the other is a very obscure actress with zero precursor attention). They have been out in force campaigning hard for this film.
