FYI: I left out Walter Brennan for Come and Get It, as seemingly Wyler directed very little of the film, and tried to disavow himself from it more often than not. A lot of the lists I'm sourcing these nominees from, don't even mention this nomination.
Also, I know Garson is spelled incorrectly. Unless I'm mistaken you cannot alter anything on the poll once it is posted, so you know, too late now.

I basically picked my favourite because all of those nominations are outstanding. Still miffed that Dana Andrews wasn't nominated for The Best Years of Our Lives.

I hadn't even heard of four of the films. yikes, me too  honestly though, it will probably be a couple years at least before I start catching up on pre-1960s films. Apart from the ones I grew up with and the couple I've seen here and there, there are hundreds of films from the 20s-50s that I've known about for literally a decade and just haven't gotten around to see yet. Ever since I became serious about my lineups a couple years ago I just started focusing on systematically working on those going backwards, and I still have a lot to see. |

Harold Russell and Fay Bainter in Jezebel), but really, a good half-dozen amazing performances weren't nominated (Stephen Boyd, Dana Andrews, Teresa Wright for Best Years of Our Lives), Stamp, the Children's Hour leads) that would rank very highly with me as well.
