Loving hearing this idiot McEnroe making mad excuses. What a pleb. Did he not watch the first set?

Pete Sampras. He's gonna win it again, right?

I expect all of you in this thread to pay for my counselling over the next few weeks. I don't even know how to explain what happened in that second set. She basically just handed her the championship. :/ It didn't even look like age/Sjogren's-related fatigue, just a loss of focus and will. At the very, very least, I wanted more of a match. So disappointed for Mother but congrats to Mugu who played well this entire 2nd week of the tournament and deserved her win. I guess there's always the US Open!!!!!!!! She knows those Miami hardcourts well. Euch. [PS could have done with less shots of ConCHEATER Martinez, Channel 7]

This stat that Federer is now only the 2nd man to win Wimbledon without losing a set is one of the most mind-boggling stats I think in sports.
So, no one has ever done this except Bjorg at a peak of 20 and Fed about to turn 36?
No Sampras, McEnroe, Lendl, Connors, Becker..........no one and not even Federer the first 7 times he won.
I am speechless. I am without speech. Not just GOAT, but awe-inspiring.

Cool stat for Fed and happy for him!
Neither of my faves won the finals, but more than that I just wish that the matches were less anticlimactic. I know it doesn't always go that way and that often the best and most competitive face-offs are in the early rounds.. but what looked like they'd be closely-contested games turned out to be unremarkable serve-a-thons.
Given the way both the mens and especially the women's draws have gone (surprise upsets, weird ranking changes, unexpected young talents coming through) the US Open is going to be an interesting way to cap off the GS season. I'm looking forward to seeing who can maintain their current level, who will be out to prove something, etc.

Man is unhappy because he doesn't know he's happy. It's only that.

Didn't have time to comment over the weekend, but hell if that wasn't a shitty last two days of the tournament for this tennis fan.
Glad for Mugu even if I really wanted Miss Williams to win. As for Federer [insert snooze emoticon here].
