Aaand Vee stays in the set. I think she started to coast a little.  If she just raised her level she would have finished the match by now... Alona is starting to take control at the baseline which is no good. I can't believe other players haven't been taking advantage of Osteoporosis' cupcake second serve all this time. Rybs was looking unstoppable at the start of this match but Coconut is letting her anger fuel some really hard shots now.. getting closer. |

Toughest player of the tournament? Done.  I Veelieve!!!!! What an effort from her. She lost her focus for about 2 games there but that was a total clinic. She kind of pulled the curtain away and exposed Oyster's ball-bashing/junkballing gameplay. I think the latter can learn a LOT from today. If she comes back to the next slam with a better serve she'll be even more of a threat a la Mary Pierce. |

Poor Simona never seems to have an easy go of it.
I would make a comment about her not being able to finish off the job when it really counts like in the French, but I really think she's giving it her everything here. So is Konta though. And they're both chucking up errors here and there as well. Hopefully neither of them fold and this even matchplay continues into a tie-breaking 3rd set.
Apparently Rybs v Coconut will resume on CC after this match is done, you would have to feel a little disadvantaged if you were the loser of that match.

Well played Konta. She was rock solid serving that out. Whatever weirdness happened with that last point, I think she probably would have won the game anyway.
