One of Julia Ducournau, Joachim Trier or Sean Baker is "100% on the jury". Leaning towards Trier. I'd be fine with all three of them as jury picks.

If there’s any truth about those jury rumors, I’d lean towards Baker, love the way talks about movies. The label Severin does something similar to the criterion closet and in his video he speaks passionately about giallo, horror, cannibal films... seems like a nice contribution to a jury like Cannes.

Now that's a good jury though I'm surprised that they kept Farhadi. They really don't care about controversies, huh?

Farhadi has no business being there but otherwise it's a great group.

It would be nice to see him in an actual Cronenberg movie after he acted in pretend Cronenberg last year

Lindon was a huge fan of First Cow and is a regular Claire Denis collaborator, so I’m thrilled with this choice. I think Farhadi clearly was the first choice, for Prez, but got demoted after the plagiarism fiasco.

Probably not the best choice for me to stick with my The Stars At Noon Palme d'Or pick, but whatever, Guillermo gave Alfonso the Golden Lion for Roma despite that bias.

Huppert gave the Palme to Haneke too! (She was a bigger fan of Antichrist that year, but still)

And there it is. Happy that the Lindon and Trier tea was correct.

Waiting on a woman of color to be Cannes Jury President... Gong Li or Maggie Cheung should've done it years ago, unfortunately the person in question needs to have momentum/fresh out of success to be in consideration and that limits the options, maybe Yeoh next year....
