Maybe it will get nods?? Yeah, we're on opposite sides of this thing here. I think it easily gets at least like 8 noms. Have you seen the film? No, but you don't need to have seen a film to make predictions. These threads would be pretty dead if the only people predicting were people who get to see films early.

I’m thinking Cooper is going to win here.

JK Simmons is supposed to be good in Being the Ricardos. I didn't realize he's the guy who played Fred on the show. That's a baity role cause IRL he was an asshole.

With how wide open the category is, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stepped in and even wins the thing.

Affleck would need the film to be much stronger than it will be, for him to actually contend for the win. His main competitors are either in potential Top 5 films (Dornan, Cooper, Smit-McPhee), or a hugely respected overdue vet (Jenkins). Par for the course with Clooney directed films, I imagine this gets decent/middle of the road reviews, but that won't be enough. Especially considering it won't even be Amazon's #1.

I guess Penn could get in, but I still have no idea about this category except one, maybe two actors from Belfast.
For now I’ll go with two from Belfast, two from House of Gucci, and I guess Kodi Smit-McPhee. Oddly the only one I feel confident in is Leto even without knowing how HoG will do critically.
Dornan Hinds Leto Pacino Smit-McPhee

Dornan Hinds Leto Pacino Smit-McPhee I'd be very surprised if two films double up in this category this year. I feel it could be one or the other, but both? That would take a lot of contenders underwhelming. I wonder if maybe we see a Nocturnal Animals situation with Belfast where one is assumed to be the awards frontrunner and takes the Globe, but the other actually winds up with the Oscar nomination. It's silly to speculate before we see how awards shake out, but I feel like Dornan hasn't yet "made his bones" whereas Hinds is a respected veteran. Dornan could wind up getting stud-slapped. Leto feels like he's probably the louder, brasher character in Gucci, and Pacino has had a long drought post-Oscar, The Irishman notwithstanding. The new trailer did a lot to highlight Pacino, though, so I think that's certainly an actor to keep an eye on. Is Penn getting good notices from screenings or something as opposed to Cooper? I've not been keeping up with any Licorice Pizza screening reports.

I haven’t heard anything about Licorice Pizza, I was just going by the newly released FYC. Penn was listed above Cooper’s name and Benny Safdie was below Cooper’s name.

Penn being listed above Cooper on the FYC is interesting though. Also waiting to see on Hill/Rylance.

Hinds Smit-McPhee Dornan Leto Bernthal These look pretty solid right now. I don't think Bernthal is solid top 5 at all. I'd probably have him somewhere between 7-10 in the race. It's the Will Smith show, and considering the lack of women of color in the race this year, I suspect Anjanue Ellis (who has the most raves outside of Smith) will be a far bigger priority for the film to push for an acting nod, outside of Smith.

Ellis isn't competing with Bernthal for a slot, though. Two separate categories. And if King Richard goes top five and Supporting Actor still remains relatively weak, Bernthal can still get in.
