The most shocking nod is Lakeith. I didn't think Boseman would score the double nod.

I've honestly had nearly 0 desire to watch most of these Oscar films. I'd rather get a bad case of athlete's foot on my taint than watch Mank, News of the World, or Ma Rainey's...

People will still talk about and revisit Da 5 Bloods and Lindo's performance over the years, which is not something i can say about half of the BP nominees up there. Once again, you're just waffling for the sake of it. You do know Da 5 Bloods doesn't exactly have good audience scores right?? Yeah, it doesn't. That's what killed it.

The whole Oscar season has been lackluster because of the pandemic. Years from now, I don't think people will be talking about most of the winners, period. I expect a dive in the ratings.
The only highlight will be if Chadwick Boseman wins - and seeing his parents accept his Oscar.

Congrats to Brad Pitt's production company Plan B on scoring another BP nod.

Really hope the (justified) confusion/frustration over Stanfield's placement doesn't overshadow views on the performance itself. He was fantastic! Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield - I'll take it, no matter where he is. I knew it was a lame performance a month ago. Thanks for looking out though. It was an AMAZING performance, easily the best in the movie and the best of the 5 nominees. Should have been a LEAD nomination, but it definitely deserved recognition. Bad take! 👎

I can't help but realize that Sorkin has gotten Screenplay nods for the forgettable Molly's Game and Trial of the Chicago 7 rather than his actual good works like Steve Jobs, A Few Good Men, and hell even The American President.

Didn't know about the Oscar Isaac-starring short film, I wanna seee it. Húsavík !! I liked Minari but Yeun was least-best of cast. Others more deserving - Lindo or Mads' first nod would've been cool, or countless other guys. Same goes for Lakeith, an overplayed perf. With so much love for The Father and Sound of Metal, incl Best Pic noms, I still don't think Chadwick is a sealed deal. Personally would pick/predict Riz - I haven't seen Hopkins yet. Boseman is BY FAAAR the biggest LOCK of the night. As much of a lock as Heath Ledger was. I've seen them all, and think Hopkins deserves it most, but there isn't a snowball's chance in Hell anyone else wins. They would literally BOO for the 1st time in Oscar history. He was great AND he's dead. That combo is a virtual certainty.

Neither did DOZENS of films that are considered classics and/or masterpieces these days. But I know you're a very very young boy, so film history might not be your niche. DA 5 BLOODS isn't a great film, but it's a superb one, definitely a Top 8 of the year, and franklin is 100% right it's better than literally half of the 8 BP nominees (though I might not agree with him about which 4).

The Father/Metal performed better today than expected and Ma Rainey did worse. If Chadwick got in for Da 5 I'd say sealed deal. But he didn't and he has competition, is pretty much all I'm saying - and to me, it is not an undeniable perf, like Ledger's Joker.

As cynical as this may sound, Boseman has one advantage over his competitors that kind of guarantees him the win this year...

If anything will spark outrage with Oscar So White is an Old White Guy winning for a film void of any diversity. It's bad enough films with black casts like Ma Rainey, One Night were shut out.

6 out of Nolan's last 7 movies have been nominated for Production Design. Interesting that in spite of Crowley's many nominations, he's still one of the long-running members of Nolan's crew to not win yet. Pfister won, Lee Smith won, several wins in Sound and VFX...
