Borat in Screenplay??? Stanfield in Supporting???
I wonder how much these new agents and new Academy members severely impacted these nominations.

Bahahahah. They frauded Kaluuya just for the Academy to fraud both of them!?!? I love that both are nominated though. Both deserved the recognition
Vinterberg over the inept (at directing, Molly’s Game was great in spite of his directing) Sorkin is spectacular.

The term "and none for Gretchen Wieners" is still prophetically alive and well

The only way i can explain the surprising Stanfield nomination is that there was no actual consensus around the last spot in Supporting.
Leto was bad, Boseman and Strathairn were too small, Kim was too young, so they went with the actor in the movie they were more passionate about and with an actual great performance.

Jesus, glad I slept in. Didn't see the nom for Terence Blanchard in Score coming but he's been under recognized during his career so anytime he does I'm good with it. Surprised by Ma Rainey or One Night in Miami not getting into Best Picture and not surprised that Sorkin missed in Best Picture. Directors branch gonna Directors Branch. One more time for Mr. Lindo..didn't get the nom in the end, but I'm happy for the big energy boost that the film gave his career. Here's hoping to better film roles for him in the future and I look forward to Boseman winning Best Actor in a few weeks time.

I hope we see you again in the near future.

lmao i love the directors branch sometimes honestly, like Another Round is, minus IFF, COMPLETELY a lone nom, love to see it Yep, this must be a first. Decades ago, Fellini and Bergman were nominated multiple times but even their movies had other nominations. Vinterberg only has IFF. Woman in the Dunes is one that just got Foreign Film and Director nods

Ellen Burstyn is pissed because she had to learn how to use Zoom only to get snubbed.

My stomach dropped when Fincher's name got read out because I thought Fennell had missed, until I realized they were reading it by film title. And then I laughed when Sorkin missed.

Let me get this right, last year movies like Joker and 1917 got rewarded with nominations for those awful, dull screenplays, but thus year Mank missed Screenplay???
These Academy people keep revealing themselves as a joke.

Ellen Burstyn is pissed because she had to learn how to use Zoom only to get snubbed. I think she really wanted it, too... She seemed really excited about being the oldest-ever nominee. Surprising her performance never caught on... I would have thought her big scene would be catnip to Awards bodies.

These Academy people keep revealing themselves as a joke. You would've preferred, I don't know, Sound of Metal or Minari to have missed in favour of Mank's messy screenplay? The last year's nominees are not relevant relative to this year.

Surprising her performance never caught on... I would have thought her big scene would be catnip to Awards bodies. As great as she is in that moment, and she really is great in it, I never really thought the rest of the performance worked (but it's not really her fault, but that of the film itself). Personally, I think Molly Parker's really the person who deserved supporting actress accolades for that film.
