Man, I had a Heidi shaped hole in my heart this entire episode. TEAM JAIDA. Honesty, I'll be happy with any of the trio winning, but Jaida would be my heart over head pick too. She has style, she seems to have a heart of gold and her 'look over there' was probably my highlight of the Season.

A little late to the party in congratulating the supremely wonderful Jaida Essence Hall on he well deserved win over one of the most talented pool of Queens this show has seen. As I said in an earlier post, from the point we were down to the final six Queens, I would have been happy for any of them to win, but something about Jaida gave her the edge for me when it came to who I hoped would take the crown, and I was so delighted when she did. All hail Jaida indeed!

Now on to All Stars 5 , although they need to slow down with this before we all get burnt out on it. I can see it happening. So for whatever reason, Netflix on my side of the pond, didn't get episode 1 until this weekend, but on the plus side, it means I get two episodes on one day. I'll watch episode two later, but extended thoughts on the premiere. Queens I'm hyped to see back: Mariah, JuJubee and Mayhem Queens I'm pleased to see back: Derrick, Shea, Ongina, Blair, Cracker Queens I'm indifferent to: India and Alexis Queens I'm not pleased to see back: I guess that means we're off to a good start. So, entrance looks. I can't say I was overly impressed with any of them, although the traditional outfit Ongina was wearing was beautiful in the intricacies of it, so I guess she takes the prize here. Derrick was pretty lazy, so off to a bad start for sure. The reading challenge was good, and my god is Ricky Martin still an attractive man. He's ageing like a fine cheese (see what I did there). We all know JuJu can read a bitch for filth, I mean "Tyra is UNT" might be the best read in the shows history; so it was no surprise to see her nail it. A lot of other Queens were very funny too, especially Derrick, who I would have been happy to see take a joint win with JuJu here, but Blair was far from a bad choice. Whatever points Ongina gained for her entrance look, she lost here. There's always one in the edit. I'm fully on board with the new style of eliminations. The lipsync for your legacy, then choosing who went was fine, but I think it had it's day. Also it had already jumped the shark a little with Alaska and she "she lent me this shirt". Onto the talent show itself now. It was definitely the dullest of the four so far. I'm not saying talent was not displayed, as a lot was, but I just found it predominantly dry. Also, a couple of weird safe picks from Ru. I thought Mariah might have been a better callout for a high finish than Cracker for sure. Definitely the right bottom three, but I actually thought parts of Derrick's act were funny and some of his impressions were halfway decent, so I absolutely would have had Ongina in the bottom two. No debate here on Mayhem, her act just didn't come off. It's very disappointing as I have an unexplained fan status with Mayhem, because little she has done so far on Season 10 or in this episode justifies it. I just like her and want her to do well. I get a warmth from her and feel like we'd get along. I don't really think the show had a clear standout in terms of the better end of the performances. I suppose Mariah at least did something interesting and India was energetic. So once Derrick was in the bottom, it was obvious he was heading home no matter what happened in the lipsync, even though Mayhem really probably should have, but them's the breaks. I like Derrick too, so it's a shame he's gone this early. My Post Episode 1 Queen Rankings:1) Blair St. Clair 2) JuJubee 3) Mariah 4) India 5) Cracker 6) Shea 7) Alexis 8) Ongina 9) Mayhem Random Thoughts- Evie looked amazing and that performance was tight. She looked so much the worthy winner of a season proper. - How much better would it have been if Mimi was there instead though. I was waiting to be gagged and I felt let down. - If Cracker is ever going to really work as a comedy Queen, she needs to work on her timing still. - "Mayhem Filler"...sometimes it really is that easy to be that funny.

Anybody liking this current All Stars? I am not. I liked it at first, but the last two shows have had really biased judging that’s hard for me to get past. The challenge where they designed their own hotel rooms was so dull and nonsensical imo, and I thought the 24K room was actually the worst, not that any of them were that great. Then this episode there was another dull and nonsensical challenge. Teams put together again to favor certain people along with roles obviously assigned to favor certain people. And to top it all off, I don’t think Miz Cracker won that lip sync. I know reality shows want certain a winners or certain contestants at the end, but it’s just so boring when it becomes so obvious. They clearly want Miz Cracker, for some reason, Shea, who I’m fine with even though I think she’s a little boring, and Jujube, who I am fine with but is being set up to lose again.

Spot on about the underwhelming and strange maxi challenges and the biased judging which has been especially bad this season. That lip sync being a tie is nonsense. It's always been manufactured but it's not even fun to watch...?
What do you think about the elimination style? I was hoping it would lead to a Survivor route with alliances but it's not all that interesting so far.

I think they really wanted the new elimination style to lead to alliances, but it didn’t really happen. It might have been interesting if it had worked out, but I hope they don’t do it again just on the possibility that it could happen just because if it doesn’t, it wastes too much time during the show.

Oh my gawd. I don't know if anyone else in here has access to Canada's Drag Race but get on it ASAP. Started tonight and I loved it soooo much. Love the changes to the format with having three judges having equal say (even voting for who wins the lip sync on a little card and majority rules). There's a guest host each week to introduce the runway and the pilot was Elisha Cuthbert serving PMK realness. Curious if they'll continue to highlight Canadian artists for the lip sync song -- I'm all for it. Tonight's maxi challenge was the "designate a box to each girl and make fashion out of it" -- and one of the boxes was Man of Green Gables. Also hysterical to me that the queen from my city is the season bitch -- dayum, girl. First boot was told "You may not have brought the Canadian Bacon, but you'll always be the Canadian Porkchop." THIS IS EVERYTHING. Next week the maxi challenge is recreating Heritage Moments.

well, I finally caught up and I did it without seeing any spoilers! jeeeezus this finale was well over a month ago... where does the time go! It's crazy, I was watching the whole season expecting Gigi to be the shoo-in winner but the competition really heated up towards the end and I found myself starting to root for Jada still expecting a Gigi reign, so when Ru called Jada's name for the crown I was GAGGING on the floor bitch. Fell in love with her towards the end. A sickening performer. Her at-home lipsync was everything. No frills or production value so your eyes were fixed on her the entire time and she danced the house down. I'm gonna wait to binge all-stars. I can't watch things week-to-week anymore. I can't remember with too much else to watch. I forgot about S12 for weeks.

Anybody liking this current All Stars? I am not. It is really dreadful and so damn underwhelming. The lip synchs are completely off, the main challenges are questionable and the top-all-star-of-the-week choices as well. Also the queens all seem so..unmotivated? It also fades a bit in comparison to Canada's Drag Race, which is SO good and feels so fresh...

Love the diversity of the queens too -- especially the ages. I've found some of the judging to be questionable (and super harsh at times, I feel like they're trying to break Canadian stereotypes in only one department ), but I like the format changes and every lip sync being a Canadian song. One of the few highlights of this year for me.

wait wait wait wait WAIT! Hold up sis what's going on here I'm watching All Stars Episode 3 with the hotel suites challenge and am confused as fuck about these critiques. The 24K Experience was the weakest. It was literally the same basic joke repeated ad nauseam. The only funny part were when Michelle and the other judge brought the funny themselves. Golden Girls Palace was the best. And here Michelle is saying there were no jokes... bitch, we must not've been watching the same thing because theirs was the only performance with consistent camp jokes. They had a concept and they executed. The Glamazone was messy and 24K was repetitive and unimaginative. Golden Girls Palace is the only one that stuck the landing. I guess the bar was much higher for Shae/Cracker/Maria since the judges know the Golden Girls so well but to my eyes that team was far and away the most consistent, funniest, and best. And Juju was awkward as hell. I felt that she wasn't really comfortable in that group during that performance. Her jokes weren't landing (and none of them had anything to do with the theme) and she didn't bring much energy and wasn't vibing with or playing off India or Alexis. I am shocked they picked her to be the winner. Honestly I was sure it was going to be Shea or Miz Cracker. I am stunned. Usually you can get a sense of what the judges are seeing even if you don't agree with the ultimate choice but I am fucking confused about everything being said here. EVERYTHING. Weird episode!

Anyone catching up on the new season and/or Drag Race UK? Thoughts? Joe Black going home first was an abomination. I thought he was going to win! I mostly like this batch of queens but I realized I forgot who Sister Sister and Elle Diamond were and even forgot they existed. I guess maybe it's the edit not focusing on them. They seem really neglected but they don't stand out as is. The first UK cast was better, but there are some great queens this season. I really can't see Lawrence Chaney winning, but she's my favorite. I'm surprised at how much I liked the Rats musical. Based solely on aesthetic/look, I thought Cherry Valentine would have gone farther. HATED that S13 premiere. I'd say it was the worst episode in the series history, because it was so damn boring, so repetitive, so useless, and such a waste of time. It was annoying. The other eps were good-ish. Symone for the win. The cast is good. Nicole Byer is hilarious and I'm glad she's a rotating judge this season. Her Kahmora critiques were some of the funniest/accurate from the show.

I also agree on Lawrence Chaney, but who knows, maybe we're in for a surprise. S13 also this! The first three episodes were...rough. Simone is as of right now the clear front runner, but she is giving me Gigi vibes and I guess she won't make it to the very end. Initially I disliked Rosé, but the last episodes made me really like her. And that lip-sync? damn!

Anyone catching up on the new season and/or Drag Race UK? Thoughts? Yes. Here are my thoughts: Ru Paul's Drag Race: Season 13: This really is a drag. 4 hours before anyone is eliminated. The UK series has had far more eliminations, surprises, twists and turns in 5 episodes than this in 7. It was a baffling decision and makes the whole season feel so sluggish. It feels like it's been going on for years and the cast is barely getting trimmed. The first episode feels so pointless -- pretending it's being so risky and edgy by sending half the cast home, only to keep all of them for 3 episodes. Come the fuck on. And don't even get me started on the Stanford Prison Experiment vibes of the season by having the casts split essentially into "superior" and "inferior" and the show going out of its way to justify that with biased judging and sending the "pork chop queens" home one by one while keeping the rest. The only queen I really like is Symone, who is absolutely fantastic and slays everything. She's been my predicted winner more or less since her entrance which means she's a very predictable winner (though I could see them giving it to Olivia to repeat Gigi vs. Jaida of last year) but she'd utterly deserve it and unlike Gigi Goode last season, I think Symone is more unique, fresh and alive and keeps mixing it up and slaying every time. I was most impressed with her improv last week, despite Olivia's win. Actually, I think I'd rank my personal top 4: Symone, Olivia, Utica, Denali with HM to Tamisha. Top 4 predictions: Symone, Olivia, Gottmik, Kandy Muse (Alt. Rosé) Tina Burner is awful and I can't believe she's getting away with her repetitive looks and boring performances week after week. Elliott with Two T's also feels like she's been on much longer than she deserves. I don't even know what the hell Lala Ri was, I thought her drag was bad but at the same time she was very watchable and had the best confessions. A lot of people love Rosé but I am so over her. Denali (and Rosé to a lesser degree) I feel is the Jan of the season, being completely overlooked and probably won't make it to the top 4. This is the 3rd season of the original show I'm watching (the others being seasons 10 and 12) and eeeeasily the weakest. So before going to UK Season, to I need to vent about... Ru Paul's Drag Race UK: Season 1: So it had a very fun premiere with Andrew Garfield's guest judging being EVERYTHING. I also think overall the guest judges blow the American ones absolutely of the water, with much, much better critiques and bring far more to the table. I also think the UK shows flow better. That being said, I found this to be insanely predictable, I could predict everything from the first two episodes. I actually didn't find any of them particularly good. My favorite was Scaredy Cat but her getting sent home second was justified I guess. I think of the rest Devina surprised me and ended up being the best. The Vivienne I found immensely overrated. I think The Vivienne and Bagga Chipz would've probably been one of the very first sent home if they had participated in S2 so there's that. The only one of them that I think stack against the S2 queens is maybe Devina. The show has been accused of being rigged and I never found that more obvious than here. After Cheryl Hole wasn't sent home in the first episode, it became obvious they would have her stick around until Cheryl Cole guest judged and then send her home the very next episode. I mean, she was one of the weakest every single episode and keeping her around was just embarrassing. I never would've watched this or stuck around for so long if S2 hadn't been so hyped so that brings us to... Ru Paul's Drag Race UK: Season 2: Binged all 5 episodes yesterday and HOLY SHIT! This is is far more entertaining than any of the other seasons I've seen combined. Massive step up to the previous season as well as the mothership season (as far as I know). The latest episode (Ruruvision Song Contest) is the highest rated episode in Drag Race history so far. From the first episode, every single queen felt like they could make it to the final four or even win (apart from Sister Sister who I'm surprised is still around). Insanely hard to predict every step of the way and it feels like anything could happen any step of the way (and it has). I was shocked to see Joe Black be eliminated in the first episode (thought she could be a frontrunner to win) also shocked to see her come back in episode 5 to replace Veronica but less shocked to see her sent home that very same episode. The challenges this season are fun and the runways to die for. Lawrence has been my favorite from the start and is probably the funniest queen ever. Despite the occasional lacking runway, Tia Kofi is delightful and so talented and has such star quality and has rightly slayed both her lip syncs, but I'm unsure if she'll make it to the top 3 or even top 4. I also loved Ginny Lemon and was sad she just walked off (I suspect she probably would've won against Sister Sister if she had been prepared, but we'll never know how that would've went) but I guess she gave it her all and didn't have much more to show. I had a hard time telling A'Whora and Cherry Valentine apart on the runway. A'Wora can be a real cunt but I'm embracing her as a villain and enjoying her. Her and Tayse have a much more mean spirited energy than the rest of the cast -- despite looking "perfect", I find them also lacking. They don't bring a lot of soul in what they do. I was initially cold on Bimini but she is slaying it. The United Kingdolls Ruru vision number was so much fun and I have a feeling these 4 might be our top 4 of the contest by the end, though I hope Tia Kofi might replace A'Whora. Both UK S13 and UK S2 have their snatch game episodes this week and I am infinitely look more forward to the UK one. It really has blown its US counterpart out of the water right now. I am HOOKED.
