I don't mean something like actor ________ doesn't have any LA Film Critic Awards or something relatively minor like that - I mean something quite as odd sounding as Denzel and Morgan Freeman have with BAFTA - 8 and 5 Oscar nominations respectively and 0 nods combined for them with BAFTA?
There is nothing like that right among the big awards Oscar, BAFTA, SAG, Golden Globes? Something with such a disparity it seems wrong or a mistake - maybe something like Blunt with 3 SAG nominations and no Oscar nods etc. but even that isn't comparable.
Is this the biggest wtf in "major" awards history across the big 4 awards?

It's pretty glaring, especially since BAFTA tried to cement themselves as Oscar prognosticators in the last decade. I've spoken of overt biases BAFTA has to certain subsets of American culture (particularly Southern performances or rural/poor areas), but Washington is unique in that he has been completely shut out of a pretty major awards body throughout his career. It's weird he didn't at least get in for Cry Freedom (especially as his co-star John Thaw did so, and the film got in for Best Film), at the very least.
EDIT: I guess he isn't unique, as Morgan Freeman never got a BAFTA nod, either.

Pre-dating SAG, Marilyn Monroe received two nominations each from BAFTA and the Golden Globes (winning one), but no Oscar nominations...

I mean De Niro never won a Bafta which is weird considering his career. Marcia Gay Harden has an Oscar and another nomination but has bever been nominated for a Golden Globe, Bafta or an individual SAG award.

While not nearly as acclaimed as Washington, William Holden never received a Golden Globe nomination despite 3 Oscar Nominations. Even weirder is that he also had some high profile comedies under his belt which theoretically should have made it even easier to get nodded at the Globes. He's also an Emmy winner and didn't get a nod for that role either (though the Globes and Emmys don't exactly match very often with TV).

Charlotte Rampling has also never been nominated for a BAFTA.

Denholm Elliott "seems" to be the closest I can find related to BAFTA/Oscars acclaimed shutout in reverse - he had 8 BAFTA nods (Washington 8 Oscar nod) - he won 3 BAFTA in a row! - and only one Oscar nod (which came late in his career - A Room With A View at age 64). So somewhat close but not quite.......

Charlotte Rampling has also never been nominated for a BAFTA. Good one - and got her first Oscar nod at 69 I think. Fascinating career she has .....

Her first Emmy nomination at 67, her first Golden Globe nomination at 71... She also won Best Actress prizes from the Berlin and Venice Film Festivals within a two year period (2015-17) and as an older actress.

Not as odd as Denzel cause at least they were nominated for at least once; but it's interesting to note that two-time Academy Award winners Tom Hanks, Sally Field, Sean Penn, Hilary Swank and Jessica Lange have never won a BAFTA.
I also always found it strange that Jeremy Irons has never been nominated since his only nomination in 1982 for "French Lieutenant's Wife".

Somewhat close, but she just cancels herself out of it with one BAFTA nomination (Tootsie) compared to her 2 Oscar wins from six nominations...Jessica Lange.
Actually, prior to The Wife, Glenn Close was 6-1 with Oscar - Bafta too.
Edit: The Denzel and Freeman situation is interesting if you dig into the nominations further, as if you take Cry Freedom and Driving Miss Daisy out of the mix, the other dozen or so films that make up their combined nomination tally, have less than a handful of BAFTA nominations in total, and most of those are in the 'minor' categories. It seems like BAFTA are as disinterested in their films as they are in their performances. I think it's fair to say that if Denzel is ever getting a nomination from them, it'll require a Best Film contender that'll be sweeping the nominations to the point where it will be impossible for him not to get in.

Beyoncé has been nominated for three Golden Globes, but has no Oscar nominations.
She’s also been nominated for Album of The Year three times and has yet to win.
She also has EIGHT Primetime Emmy nomination with no win. Hopefully that changes this year.

He might be the most acclaimed UK actor without corresponding US success.

Michael Wincott vs. well, every single awards body. He hasn't been nominated by anyone, anywhere. What an anomaly.

Since De Niro is factoring in now more solidly for a BA nod - if he gets a BAFTA nod and loses that will be his 7th loss/no wins .......Phoenix has 3 loses/no wins as well.

Something I've always found odd is Vanessa Redgrave's BAFTA recognition having little similarity to her hit rate with AMPAS - in a film career that started almost sixty years ago BAFTA has only nominated her twice and didn't give her any wins but she has seven Oscar nominations, winning once.
Edit - just checked and she has six Oscar nominations, not seven.

He doesn't quite fit here but Peter Finch is a fascinating disparity - 7 BAFTA nods, 5 wins (!).......he had no presence at the Oscars until much later, 2 nods and 1 win in the 70s.
Definitely one of those guys that was seen far differently across the two groups for a long time......

This isn't close to Washingtom/Freeman like the Bogarde, Finch, Elliot, Vanessa Redgrave examples posted above with the Oscars but almost precisely in reverse - both bodies acting in a weird sync:
Christopher Plummer was never nodded for Bafta just like the Oscars until he was 80 - then twice in the 2010s for BAFTA (3 times for Oscar) - so he weirdly missed among both these bodies which acted in perfect sync through Beginners (2010) at age 80.

I do think BAFTA has a weird blind spot when it comes to Glenn Close - it's not at the Denzel level, as she has been nominated twice (Dangerous Liaisons and The Wife), but just consider that in 1987 they nominated Douglas and Archer for Fatal Attraction, but not her. WTF?

Richard Attenborough as an actor, 2 Golden Globe wins consecutively, 1 BAFTA win from 3 nominations, yet not one Oscar nomination for acting.

I watched Cry Freedom for the first time today - can we talk about the lack of a BAFTA nomination for Washington for this film in particular? I mean, if he couldn't get nominated for a sprawling British epic directed by Richard Attenborough, what can he be nominated for? BAFTA of course loved the film, it received seven nominations - they nominated John Thaw for Supporting Actor instead for a performance that really didn't register at all...

Category confusion may have been a factor here. He was nominated in lead by the HFPA for this.
