How about Ingrid Bergman? Only two BAFTA nominations (for The Inn of the Sixth Happiness and Murder on the Orient Express) versus her seven Oscar nominations... Crazy, right?

BAFTA didn't exist at the time she got her first 4 Oscar noms. Stupid they didn't nominate her for any of her Rossellini movies when they went so crazy for Italian stuff, but I guess they were being prudish assholes the same as everybody else.

This is one of the great Awards ironies - like, Olivier not winning a Tony (1 nod, loser!)............ Bette Davis I think has 1 BAFTA nod (loser!) and 10 Oscar nominations - it's sort of like SAG is for the 70s American actors class - they started in 1995 or as I like to call it "precisely the moment movie acting began to really suck" (um). The other irony that I don't think has been mentioned on this board is that without the change in BAFTA voting Washington would have been more likely to actually get a nod this year......maybe.......although maybe not........I'll be damned if I know.......

Yeah, much more likely, surely. I like it a lot better this way though, Takes them back to being closer to what they were before the past 20 years and gets them out of the Oscar prognostication game.

How about Janet McTeer (who is actually British) having two Oscar nominations and one Emmy nomination and zero BAFTA nominations? I mean... Not even for playing Clementine Churchill?! Da fuq?

Surprising that there are no BAFTA nominations for Nick Nolte... I didn't know that and at one point he was huge star.

Paul Giamatti who I always say is an overrated actor - though he's a good actor of course - is another odd one - aside from Oscar nominations (he only has 1) - Giamatti has also somehow never been nodded for a BAFTA - and other awards bodies love him out of all proportion - he's won 3 Globes - 2 for TV but that's still 1 more than DDL or Denzel (wtf).......he's won 3 SAG awards (2 for TV) but again, that's a lot still, wtf ........a lot of people considered him the guy to beat for Sideways .........and he was probably the runner up for Cinderella Man........people who say "he's due! (he's really not) can look at BAFTA as a headscratcher - though again - if you do not get in for BP you don't get that nod historically (Sideways, Love & Mercy, American Splendor, Cinderella Man all missed BP nods)

Beyoncé and the Academy Awards. Home girl should be up there with Streep at this point.

Gena Rowlands was never nominated for a BAFTA... This is truly shocking, right? She is incredibly beloved in France and Japan - I'm not sure about her reputation in the UK, though I know Ben Whishaw and Vanessa Kirby both cite her as their biggest acting inspiration.

Not sure we have any other acting ones to add - but some quirky things: * De Niro could easily win BAFTA this year - especially if they give career wins - he's never won one (several nods) - and all his GOAT peers have ..........and that has been mentioned before.......the guy who could beat him (RDJ) has won but is in the film by the presumed UK frontrunner (Chris Nolan).......hmmmmmmm * I mentioned in the theater thread that Dustin Hoffman / Pacino / Kevin Kline are the only American men to be nominated for a Lead actor Tony for a Shakespeare play (afaik) - and Brando and Washington are the only ones to be nominated for it in film ....... so no American man has ever won a Lead award at least because all 5 of them lost......and actually I can't find anyone to win a Lead Emmy (!) for this either...which would mean no American male lead has ever won for playing Shakespeare at all (?) - Oscar, Emmy, Tony.................. - not 100% sure of this - and it seems mind-boggling ..........but I can't find anything to disprove it....

Another interesting one is Martin McDonagh.
For BAFTA he has six wins (2 for British film, 1 for Film and 3 for original screenplay).
For Oscar he only has one for Short film for Six Shooter, which ironically he lost the BAFTA for.

Deborah Kerr is sort of odd itoo in a double way - she won only 1 Golden Globe but 3 NYFCC - and yet......she strikes out for wins for Oscar and BAFTA in a fairly headscratching way- she lost 9 times combined : 5 Oscar + 4 BAFTA and only 1 of those nominated role even overlapped (The Sundowners)
