Boycotting The Irishman is boycotting Netflix. Good luck with that.

Currently 100 % on RT : Critics Consensus An epic gangster drama that earns its extended runtime, The Irishman finds Martin Scorsese revisiting familiar themes to poignant, funny, and profound effect. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_irishman

Absolute bad-asses the whole lot of them.....I watched Ed Norton today on the Today Show weekend and they introduced him as "one of our finest actors" hmmmmmmm, what does "one of" mean - like one of our 10 best? 15 best? 25 best? Why not call him the GOAT or "Greatest Living Actor" ......there's 10 or 15 or 25 who could get those tags and can you argue it remotely for real anyway?
......Well here you could introduce these 3 guys literally as our finest director and our two finest actors - with all the work to back it up.
Oh it's true.......it's damn true.

Loveee some of those behind-the-scenes vids, I want more. And gotta love Scorsese's reactions... Also Pacino being the only one with an espresso in front of him - and people question why he's my #1 Who remembers.... "Most of my scripts have coffee stains on 'em, that's how you know it's a Pacino script."

This is probably the reason you shouldn't bad mouth Robert De Niro - Angelica Huston I'm talking to you specifically, I know you lurk here! ........not sure if anyone remembers that thread.......that one hasn't aged well.

B-ROLL:
I love videos like this. To see the camera flying around, capturing the great Scorsese shots...There really is a whole universe between someone like him and those awful point-and-shoot hacks who release garbage and call it 'movies'.

Some salty MCU fan ruined its 100% RT score. Me mentioned the Scorsese/Marvel thing several times.

My takeaway from the scene is that Pesci should have played Hoffa in DeVito mode.

I've always thought Graham would be a fantastic Hoffa. Looks-wise and acting-wise.

Robert’s face when he says “how about 12 and a half minutes” is utter perfection.. the guy that says “right in the middle” . But Pacino here is such a scene stealer. Love the dialogue I can’t wait for 3 and a half hours of this.

Very good discussion - last one of these DGA talks I heard was the PTA/QT one which was a bore, but this was very enjoyable and Scorsese is an infectious speaker, you feel the passion behind the creative decisions he's discussing. He's mentioned before Grisbi (1954... has anyone see this?) and other Gabin's as an influence for De Niro but here unpacks that a little and says he used some music cues from Grisbi in The Irishman too. Also.... you won't find many directors bringing up Celine's Journey to the End of the Night, that's for sure. Gotta love him.
