Again, the utter bad-assery of everything to do with this film is amazing - 1 month run on Broadway at the legendary Belasco Theater. From Nov. 1 to Dec. 1, The Irishman will screen at the Shubert Organization’s historic Belasco Theatre, mimicking the standard Broadway schedule of eight performances per week (Tuesday through Sunday evenings, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday; as is traditional on Broadway, the theater will be dark on Mondays, with no screenings). deadline.com/2019/10/netflix-the-irishman-broadway-belasco-theatre-martin-scorsese-al-pacino-1202753643/

Can this be a new trend in cinema which Coppola be the next one who make the follow-up? I'd love to see Duvall,Al, Bobby, Walken and Meryl in one movie... Mamet + Mantegna + Macy

brief clip around 9:30... quality isn't great, it just aired overseas
Fun watch, De Niro who wasn't very sharp on Fallon recently is a little more engaged here. Springsteen and Rudd get some laughs...

"wasn't very sharp on Fallon" Everyone knows De Niro is rarely very interesting in interviews, but Fallon is probably (alongside Ellen Degeneres) the most pathetic interviewer on the planet.

I am no Fallon fan, anyway I didn't know people hated him so much here lol. Are there any good talk show hosts in the states anymore? I rewatch Dick Cavett constantly to remind myself of the existence of wit.... and rarely watch the new guys. Back to the topic dammit! Pacino + De Niro did a press circuit in London today. Can't get enough of 'em together...

Fallon overdoes the fake laugh BS, etc., but he is a very good impressionist. That's his reputation. Killed it hosting the 2002 VMA's.

THE CINEMA GODS ARE ON OUR SIDE?!?! These reviews have me, in the words of Moira Rose, shocked and delighted. Pacino usually gets the optimism outta me but even so the word has been way better than expected. Still reading thru 'em..... Jeez did I pick the worst time to go on vacation. Already w/ Variety piece seeing how this campaign, with these guys, is taking on a deeper kinda mythic feel, like pacinoyes once put it - a career victory lap. All the way to the Oscars - which will be the reward after the real reward (the work). I'm seeing this in ten days...... Wait, is this today you're seeing this? Details, buddy!! Really happy for you and Viced seeing this so far in advance of me, really, no, couldn't be happier.......not jealous.........um.

Saw The Irishman last night. I won't spoil things for others but here are my overall thoughts:
Definite echoes of GoodFellas but the final hour in particular is new territory. The violence is different to what we've seen before. Less stylistic, more sober. Pesci is excellent. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Pacino is well cast as Hoffa to the extent that you believe his passion and the bombast of the role is tailor-made for him. He does look/move like he's slightly too old for the part but that's a minor criticism. De Niro is superb in the last third in particular. Definitely the most complex role of the three leads and the way he captures Frank's turmoil/passivity/complicity/denial is subtle and great. The de-aging distracted me a bit but the story is so compelling that it doesn't let the film down.
Can't wait to see it again!

You people are nuts - this film is not real!!.......... it will never get made.......the de-aging won't work! They should have just got younger actors!........ANOTHER mob movie - no thanks!.........Netflix doesn't know how to make movies!.........Scorsese is washed up actually .......the trailers sucked!.........Netflix will push Marriage Story not this!!

Posted in the Scorsese/superhero thread but I'll post it here since it's worth watching:
They cover a lot of stuff they've already discussed elsewhere, but the most interesting part is De Niro talking about how he got Scorsese's permission to bring the movie up in interviews for years when it was still a question mark. He damn near talked the thing into existence!

Scorsese and the two GOATs on CBS Sunday morning this week. I'm sure it will be online thereafter.......God Bless Netflix The director said it wouldn't have been produced without the streaming service Netflix.
"No, never would have gotten made, because they're not making, they don't wanna make the pictures I wanna make out there," Scorsese said of traditional film studios. "It's over. It's finished." www.cbsnews.com/news/preview-martin-scorsese-al-pacino-and-robert-de-niro-on-the-irishman/
