I’m predicting him still of course but with this category I never believe anybody is truly safe. Especially in a year this stacked. Starting to come around to Triet. That movie is a huge hit at Toronto.

Nolan Scorsese Lanthimos Glazer Song
I can't gauge Barbie's strength at the moment, so I'm leaving Gerwig out but she's my 6th right now.

See quite a few other pundits echoing the sentiment that Glazer is pretty unlikely to get nominated. I don’t personally have an opinion either way currently.

There is a real chance that the "international auteur with the critically acclaimed festival prize-winner" slot is just Lanthimos with the top five contender, but I still think Best Director is adventurous enough that they'd go for Glazer.

I’ve heard people say that Zone of Interest is a lot more experimental than we think. I still think the directors branch will go for it but I can see how it misses but that’s why I’m not predicting it for picture right now.

I’ll see if I can find the thread but I read someone saying it’s far less accessible than Tree of Life or Drive.

Even if Triet doesn’t get nominated she might still siphon some of his votes along with Yorgos.

I think the winner will be between Lanthimos or Nolan.

I’m at the point where I feel good about Nolan, Scorsese, Yorgos and Payne (who is obviously not locked like the others but I think he’s in fourth and I’m going to keep him there until I have a reason not to) and I’m trying to decide between Glazer, Triet or Gerwig for that last spot and I really can’t decide on one. Probably Glazer at this exact moment but I can change my mind daily.

- Nolan - Scorsese - Lanthimos - Gerwig - Glazer That's mine as well. Payne, Cooper, Song, Jefferson, and Triet are your honorable mentions.

Nolan Scorsese Lanthimos Gerwig Pretty confident about these 4, the last spot is a toss-up between Glazer, Song, Payne and Cooper. Though I will be predicting Miyazaki on Goldderby because I'm that crazy.

Nolan Scorsese Lanthimos Gerwig Glazer
Payne used to be a thing with the branch but I'm putting him down to 7th behind Triet at the moment.

Nolan Scorsese Payne Glazer Lanthimos
With Triet possibly taking out Lanthimos or Glazer. Unlikely though. This seems set to me.

Triet was always more a BAFTA thing. The glaring snub for BAFTA was Lanthimos, considering how well Poor Things did. He had more of an international following. They also snubbed Scorsese, but they snubbed Gladstone as well. I can't see them missing Oscar.

And Gerwig was always more on the bubble with the later. Whereas the pundits definitely had predicted Lanthimos and Scorsese.
