Seconding this. The persistent lack of tech love for the MI films is bull, Fallout especially. It might be because they *saw* Fallout. They must've seen Bohemian Rhapsody too.

So, Buster Scruggs is adapted, apparently? Two of the six stories in it are taken from existing sources, so yeah, it's adapted.

Besides, we're talking about an awards ceremony that has given Suicide Squad an award.

Why am I not surprised that Burning missed lol. The Academy really doesn't like Korea. For real. Unbelievable that South Korea has never received a Foreign Film nomination before.

What are the chances lmao. Even Hong Kong and Taiwan have gotten more than 1. Taiwan even won once. Nada for Korea lol.

While we’re on the topic of effects, I didn’t like the movie, but Christopher Robin’s nod is inspired.

So Roma and The Favourite tie with the most nominations with 10 each. Is it between those 2 for Best Picture now? Or could The Favourite not win one award on Oscar night?

Besides, we're talking about an awards ceremony that has given Suicide Squad an award. I mean, Suicide Squad was a complete abomination of a film, but the makeup was good. Bad films winning deserved tech prizes is better than shoehorning great films in tech categories they're not worthy of.

We live in a world where The Danish Girl is an Oscar-winning film.

She wasn't even considered in the first place, you fool! She received zero nods for that performance. And then you have the nerve to call others "delusional"😑😑 😑 Ps : Bohemian Rhapsody! Yes! 👏👏👏😂😂😂 Marina de tevira can, why can't she! De Tevira >>>>>>>>> Cardellini

I think people sometime misread things - its still Green Book vs. Roma but Roma far more in control than prior - The Favourite will win something but it's too niche to compete in the Art film vs. Art film race (both are in my top 5 but........) here, and everything slipped today as a legit threat - in comparison to Roma - those 2 acting nods were seismic in this type of race. I know it looks "equal" there to The Favourite but I don't think it plays out that way.......

Roma is the clear frontrunner given its massive overperformance today, with Green Book (Globe/PGA winner, generally agreeable, hurt by its Directing snub and multiple controversies) and BlacKkKlansman (super timely, only film this season to land every historically significant nomination with the guilds and the Academy, hurt by having no major wins to its credit at this point) behind it. The Favourite bounced back nicely from its DGA snub, though, and while it's not a guarantee to win any one category, I don't think it goes home empty-handed. Actress, Screenplay and Costumes are probably its strongest bets.

Thoughts:
Green Book got an editing nom, and over First Man??? That's a terrible snub, if I ever saw it.
Buster Scruggs in screenplay, hell yeah!
First Man's score got snubbed? Fuck that noise.
Whoa, Willem Dafoe, looks like me and some other people called that one. This is definitely the academy's big surprise of the year, a nice one at that, even if I haven't seen At Eternity's Gate, yet.
If Beale Street Could Talk not getting nominated, and Green Book is, both a bit of a mess, and shows the academy's preference for raised based movies, which I don't think gives them a great look.
Won't You Be My Neighbor snubbed in the best documentary category? No sir, I don't like it!

that's bizarre, didn't handmaiden score any nod? No. Korea didn't submit it because it was "too graphic" lmao. Burning is the first time they even made the shortlist.
