The new frontrunner is BlacKkKlansman. the favourite would make more sense tbqh between the two Lanthimos doesn't have DGA.

Noms tally
Roma- 10 The Favourite- 10 Vice- 8 A Star is Born- 8 Black Panther- 7 BlacKkKlansman- 6 Bohemian Rhapsody- 5 Green Book- 5 First Man- 4 Mary Poppins Returns- 4
So when was the last time two films got 10 noms each and two other films each getting 8?

It's Crazy Cooper got snubbed for best director, the Argo scenario could happen again... Argo got in for Editing, though, and it was already the consolidated frontrunner after its Globe wins. The Affleck snub was its only significant miss, and it only locked up what was already probably happening anyways. ASIB, on the other hand, was snubbed in another huge category as well and isn't really gaining traction anywhere. It underwhelmed big time at the Globes and the BFCA (as did Cooper for Actor, who was seen as a runaway lock all season long) and also lost the PGA. Maybe it bounces back at SAG, but I'm not sure that'll be enough when Roma and Green Book have so much momentum and there's the likes of BlacKkKlansman and The Favourite overperforming with nominations. Also Affleck's direction was far more heralded. He won several important prizes and awards.

Does the Academy have something against horror movies? The lack of love for both A Quiet Place and Hereditary... 🙄 Why is it such an unpopular genra nowadays? (there was more acceptance back in the days).

The stuff I wasn’t so thrilled about:
-Ethan Hawke and Toni Collette not being nominated -Hereditary completely snubbed -Green Book getting a screenplay nomination and Eighth Grade getting snubbed -Black Kkklansman for editing, my least favorite part of a movie I really enjoyed -Viggo Mortensen being nominated over John David Washington -I actually liked Vice more than most and I love Sam Rockwell but he really didn’t deserve an Oscar nomination for his one-note role in Vice that gave him nothing to work with -Likewise McKay for Director? Well, better than Peter Farrelly, but Barry Jenkins or Damien Chazelle would’ve been much more deserving (Lynne Ramsey in an ideal world would’ve been a contender) -First Man not getting in for score and editing (and honestly would’ve been thrilled if it had managed to score picture, actor, and supporting actress nods but I at least thought score and editing were in the bag). -Bohemian Rhapsody for editing and picture. -I convinced myself Leave No Trace was gonna get a screenplay nomination -Won’t You Be my neighbor being snubbed for documentary

So, Buster Scruggs is adapted, apparently? I was surprised too but apparently "All Gold Canyon" is based on a Jack London story, and then there's all that dialogue in "Meal Ticket" lifted from Shelly, Shkespeare and Lincoln (which IMO shouldn't count but I get it from a legal perspective). www.awardscircuit.com/2019/01/18/the-ballad-of-buster-scruggs-confirmed-as-an-adapted-screenplay-for-oscar/I haven't read the London story but from the description of its premise it does sound very similar to what's in the film albeit condensed and barebones.

Dafoe hell yeah ! Also glad to see that Paul Schrader, Sam Elliott and Nicole Holofcener are finally Academy Award nominees.
Not happy for Hawke snub and double snub for Emily Blunt. Also would rather see Toni Collette as a passion pick rather than Aparicio.

No Nom for linda Cardelinni is kinda shocking! She wasn't even considered in the first place, you fool! She received zero nods for that performance. And then you have the nerve to call others "delusional"😑😑 😑 Ps : Bohemian Rhapsody! Yes! 👏👏👏😂😂😂

Best Foreign language film : GIRL was snubbed big time. It doesn't even make this year's foreign language's shortlist So what? It changes nothing to fact that it deserved a nomination 🙄

He may not be bothered, but I sure as hell am! Don't mind me, I'm just being an ass. I haven't seen First Reformed yet but I like Hawke a great deal, and I'm sure he's better than most of the actual nominees.
