Once again, the Academy ops to nominate only 8 films when they could've gone up to 10. Makes no sense. I guess Cooper missing pretty much seals the deal on this being between Roma and Green Book? Um, since Farrelly missed too, that makes ZERO sense.

Who does Emily Blunt need to blow to get a nomination? Just one. Is all I ask. Jesus christ. 13 years of bad luck right there. Snubbed year after another. I volunteer as tribute.

So unless I got this wrong, The Favourite, BlacKkKlansman and Vice are the only films to hit Picture, Director, Screenplay, acting and Editing, right? Roma missed Editing (but overperformed big time by hitting both sound categories and getting its two actresses nominated). Green Book missed Directing. Be gone, stats. Vice also got Picture, Director, Screenplay, Acting and Editing.

I have to say, those sound nominations for Roma are two of my favourites of the day as it's my win for both.

I wonder what 9th and 10th could’ve been? If Beale Street Could Talk and First Man? That would’ve been nice to see.

Green Book didn't get director nomination either. I guess Roma is pretty much a done deal with two suprise acting nominations. Yeah but Farrelly wasn't expected to get in like Cooper was here. I think GB can still win based on its nominations in editing, screenplay, and acting. Roma is still the favorite though, absolutely.

He totally was, though, especially after landing Globe and DGA nods.

The real stories here are underneath - Roma wins this (and also because it the only BP nominee that's legit great) I think with 2 acting nods, what the fnck does Willen Dafoe have to do to be argued as best film actor of his generation - that's a major, major coup.

Sure the Black Panther and Bohemian Rhapsody love is stupid, but "When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" getting in for Original Song almost rectifies all of the bad choices.

It's Crazy Cooper got snubbed for best director, the Argo scenario could happen again... Argo got in for Editing, though, and it was already the consolidated frontrunner after its Globe wins. The Affleck snub was its only significant miss, and it only locked up what was already probably happening anyways. ASIB, on the other hand, was snubbed in another huge category as well and isn't really gaining traction anywhere. It underwhelmed big time at the Globes and the BFCA (as did Cooper for Actor, who was seen as a runaway lock all season long) and also lost the PGA. Maybe it bounces back at SAG, but I'm not sure that'll be enough when Roma and Green Book have so much momentum and there's the likes of BlacKkKlansman and The Favourite overperforming with nominations.

First Man snubbed in Score and Editing is a scandal. Do they have a personal beef with Chazelle?

Some things I’m thrilled about:
-First Reformed for Best Original screenplay -Sam Elliot getting in -Peter Farrelly not getting a directing nomination and Yorgos Lanthimos getting a directing nomination -The surprising love for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs -A Quiet Place getting recognized only in sound editing -Black Panther not being nominated for visual effects -The love for the Roma actresses -First Man in visual effects (don’t get me started on the editing and score snubs though)

First Man snubbed in Score and Editing is a scandal. Do they have a personal beef with Chazelle? Probably not, considering that they threw his last film a record-tying 14 nominations and made him the youngest Best Director winner in Academy history just two years ago.
