It looks good, but only because it's trying so hard to be exactly like one of the greatest animated films ever made.

This is their most cynical enterprise yet - not even a live action shot-for-shot remake of their insanely popular animated property, but an animated shot-for-shot remake of their insanely popular animated property. Hey folks, it's that same thing you love but it's CGI now! Give all your money!
Looks exactly like "The Jungle Book" - same colors, same effects. I'm sure I'll enjoy it but, like with "Beauty and the Beast", it'll just be because the original one is pretty damn good. All credit will go to it. I get why these remakes get made - it's pure profit. But creatively it's just about as bankrupt as movies get.

Is it just me, or is it weird that Rogen gets higher billing than Ejiofor? Pumbaa’s... not exactly in it for very long.

This is pretty much the most pointless remake ever made, but damn doesn't the teaser capture the spirit of the opening of the original perfectly.

My all time favorite animated film in live action now. On top of that Hans Zimmer is back to do the score. My only gripe is it looks visually a lot more like The Jungle Book.

Is Disney in that dire need for money?

I'll just stick with the original cartoon as this is just a shot for shot remake but with cgi . It'll definitely do insane numbers at the box office (could rival Avengers 4) but I just can't muster up excitement for a by the books/shot for shot remake . Doesn't seem too creative or even remotely inspiring.

Yeah, the animals look cool... but who the hell wants to watch this shit?
Favreau has got to be high on the list of biggest hacks.

Yeah, the animals look cool... but who the hell wants to watch this shit? Favreau has got to be high on the list of biggest hacks. PLENTY of people. And Favreau was a talented writer/director before MCU/Disney and remains one after making some above average popcorn flicks for them. IRON MAN 2 sucked, but the 1st IRON MAN and THE JUNGLE BOOK were AWESOME!! Plenty of morons, sure. Made and Elf are both pretty mediocre too. First Iron Man is solid, but I turned off his Jungle Book off after 10 minutes. Unwatchable nonsense. Swingers is the only good movie he's had a hand in, mainly thanks to Vaughn and Liman.

Hmm, so I'm a moron cuz I have an opinion that's not nonsensically close-minded about a remake that no one knows anything about except a teaser trailer that looks pretty damn good?? Well, that kind of pompous reply is worth debating, buuut...since this is your house, I'll just say you're wrong in more ways than one. And I dunno in what world seeing 10 minutes makes you a reliable judge on THE JUNGLE BOOK, but you're dead wrong on that one too and there's a reason why the vast majority of both critics AND audience members consider it one of the greatest and most acclaimed family films of the decade. Check its RT scores for critics AND audiences. And MADE was EASILY one of the 10 funniest films of the 2000's!! Fucking hysterical with a razor-sharp witty script by Favreau and an explosively funny performance by Vaughn. Both the script and Vaughn's performance have a LMAO moment every 10 minutes at least. Probably one of my favorite comedies ever! Just as good as SWINGERS, if not better. CHEF was a winner too. Favreau's a splendid comedic writer. Anyone who calls him a hack must not know much about film or comedy. Don't want to sound rude or pompous saying that, but I'm pretty sure "if you wanna see this film based on a splendid 20-second teaser trailer, then you're a MORON!" has me beat.

I didn't know Jon Favreau inspired that much passion from anyone.

Yes, the movie looks amazing, but you’re so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn’t stop to think if you should.
