Iron Maiden again yesterday, and it was brilliant as usual. Never seen The Clansman, Sign of the Cross or Flight of Icarus live, and they were all great. The band was in top form overall, quite a lot of energy and Bruce sounded a lot better than what I would have thought he would. Never not great seeing Maiden, and this probably places in the top half of the gigs I've seen with them (with Somewhere Back On Tour being the strongest).

Two days of this years WoW done, and since tomorrow is pretty weak (only really Nilufer Yanya and Indigo de Souza that I really want to see) I am going to summarize the days now.
It started yesterday with Black Country, New Road. They were at times good or great but mostly felt a bit uninspired. I can sort of understand this given what has happened to the band since they were booked. After them it was time for Swedish pop singer Daniela Rathana, and she smashed it. Great voice and the audience was with her every at every step.
Then it was time for First Aid Kit, and in the first half of the show they had a lot of guests on the scene and it didn't really take off but the second half grew and it was a pretty damn good gig in the end. Tame Impala headlined the day, and performed a pretty uneven gig. The sound was off in the beginning and the difference in quality between old and new material is noticable. Overall a fine gig, though. Then in the night I caught most of Chloe Moriondo's show which was pretty good, never heard of her before though.
Then today started with Fontaines D.C. Haven't really enjoyed their new album all that much, but I was interested in seeing if it would be better live. Unfortunately it was much the same issues for me, despite having some nice energy on stage, primarily that the singer is so monotone - which is most evident in the closer I Love You. Then it was time for Holly Humberstone. A really positive surprise, a very pleasant voice with some really neat songs. One of the better shows of the festival.
Then it was time for Michael Kiwanuka. He really is a great singer and while some of his materials really works, especially from the latest album it doesn't quite land all the way through. Gotta give props to the backup singers though, really bloody good. The closer, Love & Hate, is pretty damn good though.
After that I saw beabadoobee, and she was another positive surprise. Much heavier than I would have thought also. Then it was time for the festival highlight for me, Kite. With the heat turned up to 100 in the tent they delivered a brilliant show. So many absolute bangers they have, and they also got a guest appearance by Anna von Haussfolff which obviously was beyond good. Only gripe was that they didn't play Johnny Boy, but on the other hand while being their most popular song it's far from the best.
I then went on to see CMAT. She had so much energy and joy in her performance that I can't help but absolutely love it. Unfortunately it was only 30 or so minutes long, and she didn't even play Nashville, but it was so damn good. The night then with Erika de Casier, who also delivered a great show. Should have had a bigger audience though.
A couple of very good concert days indeed.

Saw Fleet Foxes last week. They were great - played a lot of their hits and it was a really nice show overall. I missed the opener, Uwade, during her set but she came out to do some duets with FF for a couple of songs during the end of the show and she also had a really lovely voice.
Also on a bit more of a random note, security seemed to be working overtime that night, taking out a bunch of individuals in the GE section for various reasons. Who knew that the Fleet Foxes of all bands would have such a rowdy crowd?

Last night I saw Greta Thunberg live. Joking aside, she, together with Fridays for Future, made a surprising guest appearance on a concert a was at yesterday. A bit cringe, but also quite cool. The concert was Håkan Hellström, and it was, as usual, an unforgettable show. Something special when 70 thousand people sings together at the top of their lungs.

I saw Hatchie yesterday in Copenhagen. Such a great concert. I had listened to some live clips before and didn't really think the recordings were quite captured, but I was so wrong about that. She is a bloody good singer also and the new album continues to grow on me and the songs were even better live. I talked to her after the show and she seems like a great person as well. Overall one of the better shows this year.

CMAT - A really great show - I'm taking credit for breaking her on MAR ftw - just like I'm taking credit for breaking Wet Leg, The Bobby Lees, Fontaines D.C., The Speedways and Black Sabbath and a lot more bands ffs - nah just kidding ....on Sabbath anyway One great song after another, hilarious and winning stage patter, a buoyant and jubilant crowd of smart club kids who just totally get the high camp and the gay winks of her presentation (she may or may not be gay actually herself, doesn't matter). She acts like she's a Total Queen and the crowd responds to her like that is understating it.....a whole lot of fun ....

Went to The Cure again a few days back. They're always great, and Robert sounds as good as ever. They played some new material, which sounded really good - looking forward to their new album. Highlights of the show included Want, Fascination Street and From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea.

Had the pleasure of seeing this a few days ago with Hurwitz conducting and a new arrangement leading into the intermission. Incredible.

I've been to a few concerts in the past weeks. I saw Porcupine Tree in Copenhagen a few weeks back, and it was pretty damn good. Steven Wilson is a great frontman and a pretty funny guy. Great setlist overall, and the played for the better part of three hours which is always welcome.
Then I saw Health, which has been one of my new favorites this year. It was pretty good, although the setlist left some to be desired. Not surprising considering they have a lot of songs with features which they can't really bring live, but still sort of dissapointing. Then it was time for Jason Isbell. Jason is always aces live, and just as much so this time. Again, setlist left a bit to be desired but it was a pretty great show overall. Cover Me Up is something else live, one of the best songs of its decade.
Then I saw Wolf Alice again yesterday and they were just as good as this summer. The variation in their songs is ridiculous and Ellie is just a brilliant frontman. The band overall has great energy and they have a very solid discography considering they only released three LP's as of yet. There were a couple of songs I would have wanted to hear, but on the other hand there wasn't a song they played that wasn't worthwhile. I guess that is about as good a grade I can give.
Next up is Kite, this Saturday, for the second time this year. First concert is one of the best of the year for me, and I have no less expectations on this.

Saw the Killers with Johnny Marr as the opener back in early October. Fantastic show all around. Marr was great and he brought out Andy Rourke mid set to do some Smiths songs, which was pretty rad. The Killers really had that big time feel and then wrapped up the show with a surprise appearance by Bruce Springsteen, who came out and did three songs together. You could tell how excited Brandon Flowers was once the Boss joined him onstage.
Then last night I saw Dinosaur Jr. with Guided by Voices and Eugene Mirman as openers. Mirman was very funny and was a good way to fill the time between the sets getting switched out. I didn't really know GBV before the show, but they put on a fun show and packed in a lot of songs - I think 25 total. Then Dinosaur Jr. came on and blew the house down. Absolutely phenomenal and J. Mascis is one of the greatest at guitar. Kickass show all around.

Saw Modest Mouse again this weekend. This time they played their entire Lonesome Crowded West album. Opener was Mattress who was strangely alluring and a cool dude to meet after the show. There's definitely a Walker Bros. influence there. Time to start checking out more of his stuff now.

Just got back from seeing Greta Van Fleet. Good show. Everyone in this band is clearly talented. If only they could make music that’s influenced by Led Zeppelin rather than derivative of Led Zeppelin

I had the privilege of seeing The National perform a small venue in Woodstock this past weekend where they debuted their upcoming album. It sounded great, but all of their recent music has sounded much better live with the studio-recorded versions being smothered by overproduction, so it's no guarantee the album will be as good. But they really brought their A-game to both the new songs and the old. Between the combination of the venue's acoustics, the intimate setting, sound mix, and their musicianship, it was easily the best I've ever heard them play across the several times I've seen them. And it was recorded by a six-camera crew, with the footage hopefully to be released after the album's release. It was an awesome show.

The Bobby Lees are touring behind the best American Rock and Roll album in a long time - my number 3 of last year - Bellevue (2022)
I've seen several of my favorite current acts in the last year and talked about them in this thread - Fontaines D.C., CMAT, Amyl and The Sniffers, Wet Leg.........and in a lot of ways The Bobby Lees are the most thrilling live band - not just of those others - but in general in the last several years .........at least they're the one without a discernible plan, or a careerist objective - or that have an easy to guess setlist - their 2 previous so-so records were played a lot ........or even a clear vision on which songs they will really push to sell you - or which song they'll play which way .......they appear to merely want to play, are happy anybody has shown up at all ............and because you have they will recreate a series of heart attack level thrills
They are - suddenly and quite improbably - the best American Rock band right now .....

I just got back from seeing GROUPLOVE. Had never even heard of this band until tonight when I got invited to go see them. pacinoyes , need a status report on them Got some Pixies vibes from them after listening to their most popular songs on Spotify but soooo many bands have been trying to do the Pixies’ thing for the past 35 years This was a good show tho, we were toward the back so it was a pretty chill experience. Not much moshing, the music ended up kinda being there as background noise for the most part but it was a good time

Just saw The Psychedelic Furs. This is one of the very few relatively biggish bands that actually bothers to visit this town year in year out on a consistent basis (they were last here on Halloween night). Really good show, but I was surrounded by boomers. They came out for an encore and played India which made me happy because they should’ve played more songs from their first album. That encore performance of India must’ve been for the real fans in the crowd because this one generated little excitement compared to most of the other songs, except for myself and a handful of others who started pogoing like there’s no tomorrow
