The trailer is alright, didn't think much of Arrivals trailers either but ended up loving the movie.

Didn't know that Jared Leto is in this. That looked stunning. I'd have liked some aerial shots though.

Deakins has come correct this year. Some of those shots rival some of his best.

Very, very pretty. Still excited.
Also, side note: anyone else annoyed by this sudden trend of showing a mini-5-second-trailer right before they show a trailer?

Calling it right now, Gosling's character is a replicant. It will be interesting to see how this does at the box office. This trailer seems to play up the action in the film and I imagine it will prompt a lot of people who haven't seen the original to seek it out, not expecting a slower, more contemplative brand of sci-fi. If this film is anything like the original, I wonder to what extent this film's initial general audience reception will mirror that of Scott's film and throw off some people expecting something closer to a straight-up action film. Since we've just had The Force Awakens a couple years ago, and we're still of course in the midst of a Star Wars renaissance, general audiences see Harrison Ford returning to another iconic sci-fi role that may not be as familiar to them and might go in anticipating something very different.

Synth, Atari, Deakins, noir Ryan Gosling, old badass Harrison Ford, Jared Leto not acting like an idiot, Ana de Armas, and Dave Bautista? Damn, only thing missing is an origami unicorn.

Some of those shots rival some of his best. Easily. Villeneuve said in the Q&A that he [Roger] was allowed so much more freedom to do things he might have not been able to in the past, due to the scale and type of film it is. Deakins certainly didn't hold back.

Deakins certainly didn't hold back. I would hope so. Deakins has felt far too confined and restrained in his previous sci-fi outings (I'd argue In Time to be among his weakest works, and while I appreciate 1984's aesthetic, it isn't exactly showy). But shit, man, his silhouette work here rivals Jesse James, and unlike his work there, it doesn't feel like showboating here.

That last teaser was seriously the best movie trailer I've seen in years, and this one looks pretty great too. I need this movie right now!

THE HYPE IS REAL. I can't get over how magnificent the Villeneuve/Deakins aesthetic looks. Jared Leto's character seems to be brilliantly disturbed, and I like what I see from the other supporting players as well (Robin Wright seems perfect for her role). I also really dig the re-worked score they used here. I'm not sure if it's what we'll hear in the movie, but it was a nice touch.

I've added and deleted The Blade Runner Ultimate Blu-Ray Edition to my Amazon cart about a half-dozen times now. This hype is making me think about making terrible financial decisions.
