3 things.... 1). All the votes aren't counted yet. Harris will get close to 71 million votes in the end. Trump about 76. 2). College education does not equal intelligence. People who get degrees in Far East social studies does not get to count in the intelligent category. People who work as a mechanic in a big auto corp in a Michigan on the inverse is possibly intelligent but finds it unnecessary to get a degree. 3) i agree with rhodora. Left is very out of touch with reality - deeply in their bubble. That includes a lot of this board. Doesn't sound like a lot of these takes exists in the confines of every day life. Watch a Kieslowski movie and get a snapshot of everyday life. Might get a slightly better picture on why people went with Trump instead. Tho I will admit Harris was hurt greatly by Bidens awful administration, so by association she was blamed for his failures. * The Democratic Party - since 2017 at least - is a party of asshole college professors.......... liberal arts majors (um)........white collar jerk-offs.......I mean heck that last one is ME ....... * There has never been a modern Republican that had the diverse mix of voters than Trump had yesterday......he's a PoS but it's a historic, seismic shift ............it just is......may not last.........but it might...........for a few cycles anyway..........

THEIRS FFS After 4 years of already living under Trump, it’s incomprehensible to not want to get off your ass and vote against the orange shitstain because the other candidate doesn’t meet your ideal fucking criteria. The funny thing about this post is that Trump supporters would be saying the same to me if the orangutan had lost “after 4 years of already living under Biden/Harris” I know it sounds self righteous afbut I’m not gonna vote for a candidate just because they suck less than the other candidate, they actually have to earn my fucking vote. Neither candidate, not even the third party ones, earned my vote this year hence why I wrote myself in Yep

Democrats are total fucking losers who don't understand messaging. If they had it their way, they'd never win a fucking election. They wanted Hillary in 2008 but Obama was too damn charismatic so they fell ass-backwards into him. And in 2020 they won because of COVID killing Americans and destroying the economy on Trump's watch.

And yes, I will keep bringing up the Cheney endorsements. You fuckers have no idea just how alienating that shit was. My family members in America WERE FUCKING HORRIFIED.

the liberal finger-pointing is more annoying than MAGA.
Genuinely curious what the Cheney-truthers think Harris should've run on in a climate where majority of people said they were worse off than 4 years ago and massively upset about the economy and sitting admin. Name one policy that would've netted her more votes. Name any other dem candidate who would've netted more votes. Biden successfully ran the same kind of unity messaging in 2020 and flipped red strongholds. America is a rightwing country and has been consistently sliding right since 2016. If Biden hadn't appealed to the middle he would've lost in 2020 (which would've been better for the country turns out lol), and if it hadn't been for COVID he definitely would've lost, but that speaks more to USA's rightward drift and Trump's popularity than anything else.

At least folks can be happy now that maybe eggs will go down to $2 a dozen instead of the $2.50 they’ve been under Biden They won't because that's not how inflation works, we're not going to have actual deflation, and the president has no control over how much eggs cost. A lot of people are going to be really disappointed when they realize there's not a magic button in the oval office to bring back pre COVID prices.

Trump is being supported by an eclectic group of people, including young people who have turned on the Democrats towards Trump. Or who have now voted Trump after coming of age, because after all he is the main figure of their young lifetime. I will also say..... Dems keep saying if they had a real Democratic candidate, they could easily beat Trump. But where is this candidate? He/She doesn't exist in this current times. They're fresh out of anyone legitimate to nominate. LBJ was fiscally intelligent and strong on policy and he certainly could beat Trump. Clinton could beat Trump for sure. Obama surely would be competitive, but this generation is weak. And I think Trump will lay a nice groundwork for Tulsi Gabbard in 2028. If Harris is back in '28..... the next president could be a woman.

Like in '16 Trump could rely on the Dems to help him narrow the gap caused by his inherent repulsion. It's basically still the distortion brought about by the DNC's struggle to implement Hillary against the Sanders rebellion, and the ensuing process to somehow integrate the progressive wing while being mindful of more moderate voters and the overarching influence of the donor class and special interest. Biden was the stopgap in 2020 after squandering 4 years suffering from Trump derangement syndrome. It worked out for the most part. Domestically the party stayed remarkably united. Some core problems endured (immigration etc.), some materialized after years in the making (inflation etc.). But overall they had reason to be confident. Foreign policy was first an easy ride before getting more and more convoluted. Support for Ukraine was an easy sell at first. Putin is living rent free in the heads of liberal urbanites and deep state neocons for decades now. But they got cocky and failed to find a realistic way out of the conflict, failed to present a somehow workable theory of victory. Similar story for Gaza, which was a tougher sell for progressives obviously. They failed to reign in Netanyahu, revealed themselves to be the laughing stock that they are vis-à-vis the Israel lobby . In the end both conflicts evolved into an endless roundabout of killing after killing, with no real idea how to take the heat out of those conflagrations. All easy targets for Trump. Railing about all that stuff without offering any real solution can be a perfectly fine tactic. As old as mankind itself. Additionally, nostalgia is a powerful feeling, even if it refers to just a few years ago.
All of this might still have been enough to defeat him, but then, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, Biden revealed himself to be an old man. Not only old, but wispy and frail. Four years can be a long time. The myth-making around a very weak Kamala all came crashing down a few hours ago. Generational change was called off for far too long, as I said, reaching back to the dynamics around Hillary's coronation and her defeat 8 years ago.
Then there are the undercurrents engulfing not only the US, but the whole of the western world: A populist surge built around the alienation of the liberal elite from big parts of the populace. The easy way out by calling it facism failed miserably. Nativist tendencies are part of it, but it's far more complex than that. Then there's the revolution within the media environment, who holds control over the dominant narrative. The more the establishment loses control, the more pitiful and panicky they get. Old story, from Gutenberg and the printing press until today, with all the pros and cons that come with a changing landscape. They scream about fake news and conspiracy theories, but are only scratching the surface.

You seem upset, understandably... And THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS, THIS, THIS, AND THIS, AND THEN THEY WOULD HAVE WON post-mortem talk has always struck me as stupid, but... Well... It may have been impossible to distance herself from a perceived failed administration that she was a part of, but she wasn't Treasury, she wasn't State, she could have at least TRIED. She had seemingly no interest in trying (there wasn't a THING that she'd have changed, remember). Any candidate who had the guts to do so would have surely been smarter, whether or not they'd have done better is anyone's guess. Any candidate who would have been a better talker, a more confident one... I'm not saying Pete Buttigieg is the guy, but he's a guy who's been doing the rounds these past months who was a far better speaker in terms of both content and delivery (under far less pressure, obviously). Presentation, sadly, matters. Was hers good? To say she should have distanced herself from Israel is obviously pie in the sky fantasizing, she would never do it, probably no candidate who would do it would be in the position she was in to begin with, but when you're part of the administration sending billions overseas and you have a chance to say you're going to scale back, and you just keep parroting the same garbage fucking party line over and over again? That seems to me like it might strike potential voters struggling to make ends meet as you funnel endless cash elsewhere as completely heartless. To those who have friends/family/people they empathize with over there being butchered it might come off completely fucking inhuman. There were warning signs too. They were presumably ignored in favour of deciding to pander to others. Yes, it's much harder when you're incumbent and people are not happy, and nobody with a brain would say you shouldn't appeal to the middle, but the key is not just to appeal to the middle, but to appeal to as many people as possible, and (beyond picking Walz) she only seemed interested in the middle. She was more into Liz Cheney and Mark Cuban than the Unions (Bernie Sanders - "It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them"). Saying Biden wouldn't have won without COVID sounds like unfair rewriting of the past, or post-traumatic stress or something! As Harris has suffered now, surely Trump suffered from being incumbent through tough times then, but Biden didn't just win because of the middle or the pandemic, he won because of George Floyd and BLM, and "very fine people on both sides", and Muslim bans. He was in a position to do that as the opposition. She was not. But there were protests across the country this past year she could have played too. She didn't. How did these guys appeal to those voters this time? By sending Bill Clinton out to talk about King fucking David, or the Obama's out to guilt trip black men into voting for their soulless candidate or else they'd be letting down the women in their lives (concern about funding Israel's barbarism, or discontent with the way things are = rage). It was all eerily reminiscent of that stupid bastard going to Flint in 2016 and drinking that glass of water. Very 'We don't actually give a fuck about you'. Isn't the idea that these people are supposed to be representatives of the people? However comically strong Trump might be with his base, he basically got where he is by pretending to be Bernie Sanders, while these guys left the actual Bernie Sanders sat on the sidelines. Twice. To say the US is drifting right like the world is a steep slope that cannot be escaped and not something that has been carved by the people in power is to let them off the hook. The rejection of a party sliding right is your only hope (hope, not guarantee) to keep them from shifting further that way. To anyone who read all that, thank you for coming to my TED Talk, apologies for any typos, and hugs and kisses to all my worried brothers and sisters in the new world. You might as well have stuck with old King George.

Is this Project 2025 thing for real? Or just some "conspiracy theory" ? Several members of the Heritage Foundation worked with the Trump campaign and both Matt Walsh and Steve Bannon have openly boasted that now the election is over they can be transparent that Project 2025 is the agenda. It's real, and the fact Democrats stopped hammering Trump on it months ago is just another failure of the campaign.
