This is so much more confusing that just saying their names. Just last names are fine. We all know what movies they are in. He's trying to do another BH. What a time to be alive.

Fish's acronym for Bohemian Rhapsody was BH, and it stuck like glue that whole season and after.

Brody - TB Domingo - SS Ralph - C Timmy - CU Danny - Q This is so much more confusing that just saying their names. Just last names are fine. We all know what movies they are in. Fixed it.

Adrien Brody Daniel Craig Colmen Domingo Ralph Fiennes Sebastian Stan
Finally I've settled on these predictions. I know it's pretty impossible for both my personal horses Craig and Stan to get in, and neither might to be honest, I'm still including them to try that "manifesting" shit...
Of the two, Craig stands more a chance, if only because two spots there still feel iffy, and he could grab one of those...?

I am putting in Mescal over Craig.

In a just world, Craig would be a lock, but he seriously needs a top critics win - and I could see NYFCC for that.
Still convinced this is Ralph's to lose.

Sebastian has such a little realistic chance for being nominated despite two excellent performances, that it doesn't really matter which I chose. I'm just hoping any ONE of these will impress enough voters to make it in, even though I know the chance for that happening is like 5% at this point.

Stan appears to be more of a personal preference. The Apprentice is not the kind of film that will garner any major nominations.

I think this race ends up Fiennes vs Chalamet. Brody wins a bunch of critic awards but falls short with the industry ones.

My gut feeling is it's Ralph Fiennes year. He's got the hugely respected veteran that's never won narrative and Conclave is a solid all-round contender. The competition isn't overwhelming ( nobody thinks Brody's career merits a 2nd Best Actor Oscar, and while you can't read too much from The Gothams, a film like The Brutalist should be overperforming there, not underperforming. I think it's more vulnerable a contender than people think).
There doesn't seem to be enough passion for Sing-Sing, so I don't think Domingo is winning. I can see Sebastian Stan, Daniel Craig, Timothee Chalamet or Paul Mescal being nominated, but not winning. If there's a year where Fiennes can take advantage of a so-so field, this is it.
Best Actress feels more competitive this year.

Best Actress feels more competitive this year. I really can't see it being Ralph Fiennes's year after seeing that performance. If he wins, it's because the film wins. It's a very low-key, muted performance, and those types of performances rarely win out over louder, showier works. It's a terrific turn from him, but I really can't see him winning for it. In this day and age especially, people aren't batting an eye at someone winning a second (or third) Oscar as much, and Adrien Brody's reviews are career-best. He can absolutely win.

Oh, I'm not saying Brody can't win. I just don't see him as undeniable or unbeatable for a variety of reasons. I'll reserve judgement on Fiennes based on what you've said, but he certainly has the reviews and the narrative. And maybe the British Bloc will do what they have to to get him over the line.

I feel like it is probably Brody's, if the legends are true regarding his performance. As being a two time winner doesn't require a certain career as evidenced by Zellweger, and honestly Brody's career is at a relative resurgence thanks to his TV work and his Anderson appearances. Sometimes the performance and film are enough. Which if that's the case Brody can take it despite having won already.

Brody is to Fiennes what Murphy was to Giamatti last season.

I'm not sure Brody can win SAG for The Brutalist. That is one movie that might struggle there.

Who will be your pick for SAG then? Domingo? Domingo or Chalamet maybe? I just think Brody sweeps at this point, but he is definitely vulnerable at SAG.

If they keep up the trend of Actor presenting Actor now, Adrien Brody should kiss Cillian Murphy.
