You know I’m super excited for Poor Things but I’ve already seen it described as “serving cunt” twice. I just can’t…

Yorgos x Emma x Tony McNamara should work together forever and ever.

This movie needs to be seen to be believed. I can’t wait to watch it again, it’s Lanthimos’ best and not by a small margin.

This is The Favourite all over again. I think it gets the exact same amount of nominations, except gender-flipping the Supporting nominations. Stone could very well win with these raves.
Do not sleep on this.

Do not sleep on this. This is basically the opposite of an Oscar movie but it’s so good I just can’t see the Academy passing on it. It’s basically undeniable.

I think Lanthimos is in too. This is shaping up to be a very strong year.

In a post- Everything Everywhere world, we can't count anything out as "too weird," especially seeing how Yorgos has always at least had an "in" with them. He's part of the club now.

Feeling reeeeeeeal good about my Golden Lion prediction now. Stone's already won a Volpi (for the Jury President's film, no less) and we've seen in the past that jury presidents aren't afraid to let prior relationships influence decisions... or, at least, not get in the way of them, like when Guillermo Del Toro gave Roma the Lion.

It’s definitely in tune with McDonagh’s and Campion’s sensibilities too. I would still say the Lion goes to something else, while Emma wins the Volpi, but again, this movie is undeniable.

I would love to see Stone and McDonagh work together in the future. Question: between Dafoe and Ruffalo, do we think either of them is a strong contender for a nomination... or maybe both?

Ruffalo deserves it, the movie takes off when he shows up for the first time. Dafoe is great too, I wouldn’t be surprised by a double nomination if the movie really hits big but having to pick just one I’d pick Ruffalo. This is a testament to how good an actors’ director Yorgos is to make me say this about Ruffalo lol

It'll be interesting.

alright, only ones left that i care about are the killer, priscilla, and hit man to an extent since those are the ones that peak my interest from what i’ve seen/heard.
wonder if priscilla will become a decent player with awards. i have a feeling that it’s being overlooked. and if that’s the case, A24 is gonna have their hands full again this year with campaigning (past lives, priscilla, zone of interest, the iron claw (tbd)). from what we know zone of interest seems like it’ll be their main player, but i feel like priscilla is gonna slide right into that #2 spot.

Yanno I'm not the biggest Ruffalo fan but even I have to admit I've seen him be great - You Can Count On Me / Foxcatcher - he's in a BP (I know, I know) he's in an indisputable other modern classic (Zodiac) and now this apparently ....he's got an Emmy win and a Tony nod.........I mean even for me not caring about him that's impressive.......I'm genuinely happy for him .........weirdly because I'm pretty sarcastic

Ok one more thing about Poor Things: pacinoyes there’s an actress you love in this movie but as far as I know she was never announced. Don’t look it up! You'll love being surprised by her appearance and her performance. Who is it? Can you put it under a spoiler tab?

So, if I liked The Favourite, I'll like Poor Things? I'm looking forward to this one and it looks like I won't be disappointed.

If Poor Things is anywhere near as good as The Favourite, I'll be delighted.
If it's somehow better? I won't be responsible for my actions.
