Seriously, free Paul Walter Hauser!

Sneider is getting that from a DeuxMoi post that recently said that it was indeed supposed to be Paul Walter Hauser but post-strike he wasn't able to do it, and QT is now looking at a 'controversial figure' who recently hosted SNL. So yeah, the common theory is Gillis. What a massive downgrade this would be

QT be patient. Whatever Paul is doing....wait. Is this a riff on the Chris Rock joke at the 2005 Oscars about waiting for a star?

Apparently Pitt was gonna reprise Cliff Booth.

Apparently Pitt was gonna reprise Cliff Booth. Makes sense since his character definitely has a lot of movie hot takes in the OUATIH novelization

I also think he’s going to change his mind about his next film being the last film he ever makes. Whatever that is.

He's getting himself psyched out because of his own arbitrary 10 film limit. Too precious about trying to make a perfect final film (which tbh Once Upon a Time in Hollywood already is) all because he didn't like Rio Lobo and some other final films of classic Hollywood directors. Nevermind the fact that the filmmakers of his childhood like Scorsese, Spielberg, and maybe even fucking Coppola are still going strong.

The whole 10 film thing has been silly from the beginning. 12 good films is better than 10, even if you have a few that don't work in between. I guess he is serious about it though.

If he's really not doing this, I wonder if he'd consider passing the script along for someone else to direct(?)

Too precious about trying to make a perfect final film (which tbh Once Upon a Time in Hollywood already is) It would be kind of funny if he spends ages trying to decide what to do for his final film, and never settles on anything because nothing is "perfect" enough for him, so he just ends his career with 9 films.

He doesn't even need to end with 9 films... because he's already made 10! Yeah yeah, he considers Kill Bill to be one film but there's nothing that stops him from changing his mind on that too. Come on, QT, just declare OUATIH to be your actual 10th feature (and it'll be a perfect finale) and go write volumes of Cinema Speculation and do Video Archives and shit. We'll understand.

I wonder if it had to do with not getting a particular actor so he couldn't picture anyone else in role.

I don't mind. I never found "The Movie Critic" interesting to begin with.

To be honest, i'm fine with that.
According to THR it was morphing to be just a OUATIH prequel or sequel with Pitt merely reprising his role as Cliff Booth.
I would rather prefer that his final film is a completely new and original idea

I kinda hope he never makes another movie, just to show how fucking stupid this attempt at a self-curated legacy truly is. Artists never know how their work is going to be received, but they still have to make their art. (And let's be real, Tarantino's already made ten films; I don't give a shit about Kill Bill's intentions to be one project, because the final result came down to two movies instead of one.)
And as someone who thinks Tarantino's become extremely regressive as an artist with his last three films, I don't feel any great loss here. If he makes another movie, excellent. If he doesn't, okay.

Thought this meant it just wasn't his final film anymore, not that he was scrapping it all together. Sounded like an interesting project for him and like it might have been a bit self aware given his own obsession with movies.
