I wasn't sure where to put this but decided to post here since we are speculating on his next role.
Do you think this is The Movie Critic? I'm not sure why he wouldn't be able to discuss PTA's next film.
I have a feeling he's going to be in the film as Rick Dalton. The Rick Dalton memoriam we got feels very calculated from Tarantino.

I would be shocked if DePac are not in this film given their friendship with DiCap and that it's about the 70s film era ......it's going to be pretty awesome and possibly not just their last collaboration .......but if they are in it in a scene with DiCap........a kind of history......

No way he's going to play Rick Dalton again. It could easily be the PTA film, and he's just waiting for the official announcement from the trades and outlets.

Deadline - "unclear if Pitt will play the title character, but I think he is."
This would be interesting after the Paul Walter Hauser rumors. The cast will be huge either way.
Hollywood Reporter - "Filming on The Movie Critic would then commence, either late this year or early 2025."

I'm willing to bet that DiCaprio turned this down to do the PTA one.

I'm willing to bet that DiCaprio turned this down to do the PTA one. Yet the PTA is already filming, and The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that this wouldn't start until at least late this year, if not early next year. Remind me to never take you to Vegas.

I'm willing to bet that DiCaprio turned this down to do the PTA one. Pitt is busy with the F1 film now too. Filming won't start until late 2024 or early 2025.

I'm willing to bet that DiCaprio turned this down to do the PTA one. Why would he do that? Unless it's a 10 minute role rehashing him as Rick Dalton.

Now this casting choice is exciting.

I hope this is true! Cruise was almost our Cliff Booth and apparently he and QT hit it off quite well so an actual collaboration would be amazing.

I'd given up on Cruise ever winning a competitive Oscar ( he was always certain to get an honorary one). He'd become a very divisive figure inside and outside the industry with his Scientology affiliation and all the controversy that comes with it. Plus, he's really heavily focused almost exclusively on action films for the last 20 years. Really good ones, but he's not thrown in enough prestige projects that worked to be seen as an awards friendly actor any longer ( the Top Gun: Maverick attempt to get him in the Best Actor race, felt a bit ludicrous and mostly based on the fact that the movie made a billion + dollars)
If he gets this role (and the role is substantial enough) I believe the industry will want to reward him with an Oscar for decades of making so much money for it. Actually a very similar narrative to Robert Downey Jr's upcoming win ( though Downey has a win-worthy performance as well) .

Make Cruise the movie critic, you cowards.

I'm not the biggest Tom Cruise fan - I use him as one of those depressing examples of "A Celebration of Winning" shit in American Pop Culture that often seeps into his acting .....which is common across actors too............... however his best acting work has always been for auteurs - he's not a guy who's gonna go off the page a lot and bring something else to a project but if its there - he can strike a kind of gold:
For Mann, PTA, Stone, he did his best acting as implicit winners who also lose and Tarantino could certainly add to that...
Side note: Cruise has quite a collection of auteurs beyond them too - Kubrick, Scorsese, Coppola, Spielberg etc

Sneider is saying it's a smaller role.

Whether that's a good thing I don't know but they're good at what they do.

If it's going to have an extravaganza of big stars like Pitt and Cruise (and possibly Leo/Sam Jackson) in it, I can't see him not hiring any big actresses. Streep? Winslet? Blanchett? Lawrence? Saoirse? Emma Stone?
