The F is not surprising at all. This film had no business being unleashed on the masses who also give The Emoji Movie a B.

I'm just wondering: why would any sane critic call this the worst film of the year when The Emoji Movie exists? Is it because TEM is made for kids and makes no effort at having thought-provoking themes? If so, that argument is absolute bullshit.

Just because you're aiming for kids doesn't mean you get a free pass for not even trying. Yes, kids are easy to entertain, but they are not stupid, and you shouldn't be condescending them. There's a reason that those kinds of movies are always unfavorably compared to Pixar and Ghibli, because those two actually respect the intelligence of their child viewers. Sorry for going off on a tangent, but kids movies talking down to their audience always pisses me off.
