I’ve voted for Don’t Look Up in every poll so far so might as well keep it up until we hear some actual reactions.

At this point, seems even silly to not bet on Belfast

I wonder if Smith's coattails are long enough to drag everything along with him ........there's no reason to think King Richard but.........I dunno........ how is he still the favorite for BA over good soldiers Cumbypatches and Denzel in the first place? His interviews are endlessly OMG / WTF - about wanting to kill his father, his children getting emancipated from him (one at least?), how he wanted to fnck everybody including Stockard Channing (um), is possibly unvaccinated ...........and how he's perfectly happy to watch his wife fnck around on him? The movie now has won 5 audience awards (Belfast has 3 but has Toronto, so.......) - is a lock for BP now when at one point it looked positively unlikely and he's dragging a Supporting Actress (to a win?) and possibly a Supporting Actor to a nod and possibly his director too........ Dude is like an idiot savant - he'll answer any question no matter how cringe inducing and when by all logic he should say "I'm here to talk about my film ONLY" .........and people just love him anyway....... Oh and of course except for a few movies this season it has a huge box-office upside on top of it.......

Seeing Belfast tonight so hopefully I'll be able to gauge its reaction with the crowds, but it feels right for the moment, especially as they pushed Balfe and Dornan supporting, so at least there's a strong possibility of an above-the-line Oscar win to match a Best Picture victory.

Going out on a limb I'll say Licorice Pizza.

You don't have Spencer or The Tragedy of Macbeth listed, but you have Cry Macho and In the Heights?

Okay, who are the people who keep troll voting for Cry Macho and In the Heights? I just want to have a talk.

Okay, who are the people who keep troll voting for Cry Macho and In the Heights? I just want to have a talk. I know, right? And I say that as someone who was one of the first people to back Cry Macho all the way back in May!! Don't get me wrong, it was a fun run, but I think it's time to hang it up at this point.

I've been thinking it'll be a starry night - DLU or Gucci - but the very positive word on King Richard from p much everyone makes ya think. Lead win lock from Will could make it the one to beat........and a larger Academy favors the least divisive.

Going out on a limb I'll say Licorice Pizza. This might not be a pipe dream. It's an original screenplay contender, a potential dark-horse for SAG Ensemble, PTA's overdue narrative is building, and it deals with Hollywood. If it can turn a profit, don't sleep on it.

You don't have Spencer or The Tragedy of Macbeth listed, but you have Cry Macho and In the Heights? First time? A movie stays on the poll if it gets any votes, and trolls abound. Don't worry, it annoys Quetee too.

Sticking with Belfast, but definitely keeping my eye on Licorice Pizza. I also think The Power of the Dog is a strong contender, especially since I think Campion takes Director.

Well, I hopped off the HOG train and onto the NA train. I have no clue why, lmao. If not NA then hopefully Licorice Pizza.

right now it feels like Belfast or Power of the Dog. Last couple years there's always a candidate early season that looks like the obvious prestige and/or crowdpleasing choice that ends up falling short. Belfast is already starting to face some pushback against the idea that it's the assumed frontrunner and that's bound to continue (one headline called it Roma-lite). Will it be enough to sink its chances or will it be this year's Green Book? Time will tell, but based on where the Academy has been going these last two years I'm going with In The HeightsPower of the Dog for now.

Meanwhile.........back in the real world (sort of the real world anyway)......... The Power of the Dog (haven't seen it, love the book) has now overtaken almost every category on Gold Derby - it's #1 in every big category it's playing in except actor where it's number 2 right now as Cumbypatches has even slightly overtaken Denzel and is behind Smith......now a lot of these "leads" are pretty narrow and will go back and forth and its audiences scores are low(er) (6.7 IMDB)........ but this bitch has legs up to its neck in this race and it isn't going to "fade" ........this is building its own narrative....... #1 in Pic, Director, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor (McPhee, pacinoyes called that from the book over Plemons when no one was, so don't fcking tell me I'm not a sexy, funny old genius ), Adapted Screenplay and number 2 in Actor.....

I definitely think it's still Top 3 with Belfast and Licorice Pizza, and I currently have it winning Director and Adapted Screenplay. People continuing to not predict Kodi makes very little sense to me. Dunst feels like this years Seyfried.
P.S. Good to see Dowd finally not be #1 on GD anymore.

I'm going back to Power of the Dog. Nothing seems right.
Edit: Screw it, Macbeth. I'm going with Macbeth.

Thinking I’ll be pivoting to King Richard after the Don’t Look Up reactions come out. I’m thinking it’s easily ahead of Power of the Dog and probably leapfrogs Belfast.
