I'm guessing Belfast simply because of the high praise it's getting.

King Richard won't get a Director nom, and is in danger of missing Screenplay too. It isn't doing anywhere near as well at the box office this weekend as it should, and I struggle to see it eliciting any real strong passion. Couldn't even place Top 3 at Telluride, and it has 0 100's on MC, at least Green Book had 3 ( Belfast already has 5). Also, Smith being the frontrunner doesn't really have any barring, BP and Actor haven't matched up since 2011. None of these are certainties. I still think this will clean up when it comes to the industry awards and will greatly benefit from the preferential ballot. Think it’s a 3-way race with King Richard, Belfast, and Don’t Look Up. Not seeing Power of the Dog as a top BP contender. Eh, agree to disagree. I think Top 3 is Belfast, The Power of the Dog and Licorice Pizza.

Last chance to vote before the end of the month! Make sure you get your say! I switched from Belfast to Don’t Look Up at the beginning of the month because I’m just not sure Belfast can go all the way now. Of course the pandemic is affecting everything, so maybe it will be another weird year, but I feel like for a film whose strength is being a crowdpleaser, it’s not really pleasing many crowds. I think Don’t Look Up will be too divisive in the end, but at the time I didn’t think there was a good alternative. I’m going with West Side Story now though. The message can feel “important”, and it’s something that most of the general public will have heard of.

I don't know how high it's ceiling is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets at least 10 nominations. As of right now I'm kind of running on basic instinct as much as anything else, but that's the feeling I'm getting as of right now. I know regardless of what happens it will be interesting what it's potential is though.

Yeah, fuck that - back to DLU! The relevance can help it. Belfast just feels a bit small.

All three of those movies finished top critic wise in their respective year. Granted, critic love doesn't win awards but those three were an exception. Belfast, doesn't have the critics in its back pocket and it hasn't done well at the box office.

Until anybody else wins something as important as TIFF People’s Choice Award I’m sticking with Belfast.
