So apparently Olivia Colman was actually supposed to accept Hopkins's award on his behalf but the ceremony just ended. What a disaster.

Watching it again, it seemed that Phoenix was riffing the whole time. He clearly didn't give a damn about following the format of individually calling out each nominee.

Following me around like a lovesick puppy whining and crying about me saying positive things about Denzel isn't a very productive use of your time. Seems to me like you're projecting, because you're the one with your head up pacinoyes's ass all the time like you love the taste of his diarrhea or something And you're the one that actually mentioned me by name in this thread. If you don't want to hear from me, stop asking me to answer questions I asked on a different thread. That simple enough, idiot?

Hopkins is such a wonderful guy,I'm honestly thrilled he won. Such a classy person. Nobody could possibly hate on him.

Also I have no idea how anyone can assume that Rudin would affect Macbeth's Oscar chances, especially if his presence has been muted / completely thrown off. I mean if Bryan Singer couldn't hurt Bohemian Rhapsody, not a chance in hell it happens with Macbeth as well. Wild! This misrepresents what was said I think: I don't think anyone said Rudin would affect Oscar chances in terms of nominations right? Just that it is bad press and I said it could affect wins in combination with the type of film it is AND the amount of wins the 2 principle people in the leads already have. What is "wild" is that people are commenting that it will NOT affect the film at all - no one knows that at all - when the story isn't even finished yet either.......! Let's just make sure we're on the same page after all and what "Oscar chances" means.........and.......... .........this is not like the Malek example either unless a "Macbeth" film is going to gross 1 Billion Dollars worldwide.......... Of course Rudin is going to be a bit of an albatross around the films release, but so is The French Dispatch, another Oscar hopeful that is going to get released this year (likely). If Joel Coen and company play their cards right, they more then likely will smartly deflect questions relating to Rudin, so as to not make him the center of attention when it comes to the films release. I'd be surprised if the Scott Rudin really affected the films perception that much, anyway.

These two have give zero f's personalities.

Any serious journalist who knows McDormand or Denzel wouldn't dare bring up his name, but darn well there are some reporters who just chomping at the bit to ask about him involvement, personalities be damned.

I just can't imagine them being particularly happy if there's an onslaught of questions relating to him.

Okay, Denzel wasn't nominated... I didn't watch it but I'll assume he wasn't even there... STOP. Keep it focused people, we have enough threads where u can discuss him.

Well..........Yes and no........he was merely an Executive Producer on The French Dispatch ........a lesser title obviously - it doesn't quite match-up to his role on Macbeth and A24 ripping his name off the film (5 films) which actually could be read as utter hypocrisy on A24's part actually and a WHOLE other story! Again, specifics are important here imo ........and not all of these are equivalents either - I don't think Woman in the Window (Producer) will be affected much at all given the type of film it appears to be and his name is still on it afaik. Well see, hopefully the fllm is received on only on its merits......

Not surprised. Aside from the "COVID of it all", most of the movies were that nominated for best picture, that people either never heard of, or couldn't / didn't really see, and the awards themselves were considered a big mess. The lack of theaters had to have hurt too. Look at something like Parasite, which gradually built its box office and audience awareness over time. That just couldn't happen this year for obvious reasons.
