So you don't think that was racism when a grocery store clerk greeted a blonde white woman and treated her nicely and then when it came to my turn, she gave me no eye contact and ignored me. No hellos. Nothing. When you work in a service industry, you don't treated people like that. I was in a high scale grocery store for pete's sake. My mom experienced the same thing at Vons. So for you to tell me that it is not racist.... and that I should have not had any expectations whatsoever to be treated fairly. then you are the one that needs to check yourself. I don't ask you to go through anything that anybody else doesn't go through. I have this happen to me all the time. I don't care. And you know what, this could have been a teaching moment if this woman was "lowkey racist." Maybe she was uncomfortable around you. Maybe she doesn't spend much time around black women. You could have been kind and gracious, and perhaps she would *change.* Going to her manager works against that, it makes the black woman into an enemy. If she got fired from her job because of a black woman accusing her of racism, she'll only get more racist. At best you win a battle to lose a war. I know this is old, but...WOW!! Just fucking wow. First, we have a white dude telling a black woman that they way she handled an obvious racist was WRONG. I know that's pretty awful, but stay with me, cuz he's NOT done yet, and then proceeds to let her know (in all his white wisdom) what's the PROPER way for a black person to handle a racist white cunt who was treating her like less than human. I'm probably the most un-PC person in these boards, if you don't count the few RepubliCUNT Trump supporters and their enabler/apologists, and this doesn't make me too angry cuz it's so fucking comical, but it does make me pretty disgusted and feeling pretty sad for black people who still have to deal with entitled white people telling them they aren't fighting for their rights or dignity in the "proper" way. P.S. Sad thing is Martin is not even that bad of a guy (at least based on his posts), and I don't even think he's racist in the way that most mainstream society/media mean when they use that word. He can be a humorless prick, and has easily one of the Top 5 WORST tastes in film on these boards, but he's also sometimes funny, sometimes witty, and can contribute some valuable film commentary every now and then (his "quote" about The Breakfast Club for our Best of the 80's survey was nothing short of classic). But the fucking mind-blowing CLUELESSNESS to do what he did here?!? I don't think it comes from an evil or malicious place, but it most definitely comes down to something that "they" get veeery defensive when you mention: WHITE PRIVILEGE! No two ways about it.

Eh, I simply believe in treating people who treat me like trash with decency. To say that this is "less than human" treatment is ridiculous. This is just... the normal way that people act around me. In a professional setting one should act professional and that onus is on the server and not the customer, but this is such a non-issue that quetee posted.
