There's a new Covid variant, named omicron, coming from south Africa. It seems to have a lot of mutations on the spike protein of the virus so the current vaccines might not work. Two cases detected in the UK already.

Apparently this new variant was planned by the governments around the world to cause further lockdowns
…or so my uncle says

Love how we skipped a few letters in the Greek alphabet so we wouldn’t call it the Xi variant 🤡
Although to be fair Xi doesn’t deserve to have his name go down in history along the likes of the “Antonine” plague or plague of Justinian. Not to mention that covid is pretty much the flu compared to those actual plagues (no I’m not saying covid is just the flu, just when you compare it to the ancient plagues)

Two cases detected in the UK already. Two in Ottawa as well. I haven't posted in this thread for a long time and have taken huge chunks of time away from the internet in general. Deleted Facebook which was one of the best decisions I've ever made. My whole family is deep down the Q/anti-vax hole and no longer talks to me, though therapy has been helping so much because this is the hardest challenge I have ever faced. I hope I'm stronger for whatever number wave we're heading into now. Stay safe everyone.

My son is getting his 2nd vax shot next week so I’m pretty happy about that. Got my booster shot too. Now just waiting to open up vax for under 5 so my daughter can get hers.

I was caring for someone with covid and now I have... something. The test is saying negative, but I sure hope it's covid. I don't want the flu and then getting hit with flu 2. I feel like I have five different heads arguing with each other right now: one is saying "sleep" one is saying "dizzzzzzy" one is saying "you can't sleep idiot, you can't take a proper breath while lying down" one is saying "are we done yet?" and one writing an illogical high fantasy story and keeps getting pissed off that the giants he's developing are suddenly feeling sleepy and dizzy, because they're supposed to be cool.
Is this what having voices in your head is like?

I can’t believe this thread is coming up on 2 years old. I've reread the first several pages and boy, did it go south quick. I think a lot of people were still in the oh, something like that can't happen.

I'm pretty sure I got the omicron variant. Was super sick last week for a couple days and had terrible fever/chill for one night. I get colds like once or twice a year but haven't experienced anything like this in a damn long time. Had a splitting headache too for at least a couple days. It was awful but could've been a lot worse.

All my family was visiting and one of my brothers was coughing a lot. Also did a lot of stuff out of the house--went to a couple restaurants, went to the theater a couple times. Could've gotten it anywhere. I feel much better now though. Only felt really bad for like three days. Yeah omicron is spreading like wildfire. Spent some time yesterday at a friend's house while we were out of power to charge our phones and shower and turns out one of them was feeling under the weather and he tested positive for COVID literally today. So if I didn't have it last week I'm exposed to it now. 🤷

I had a pretty good run but finally got the covid. Pretty certain one of my kids spread it to me. Feel pretty shitty today, but akin to a sever cold/flu that I’d normally get 1-2 times a year. Hopefully it passes in a couple of days.

Got my booster shot yesterday, and spent most of the night needing to vomit. So that was fun.

Hopefully it passes in a couple of days. It feels inevitable at this point, I hope you're doing okay. I'm having all-time lows and am really depending on the supports I've put in place so I don't have another breakdown. On stress leave right now so thankfully I'm not dealing with the back-to-school madness as the province is no longer counting school cases, have cut quarantine times in half, healthcare workers are told to still come in even if they're positive... shitshow to say the least. Thankfully I'm finally getting my booster on Thursday, but I'm so exhausted. I've tried so hard and have lost my whole family over this shit and... fuck.

I'm sorry to tell you that the booster dose is good to avoid the delta variant that's still present, but it's totally irrelevant to prevent omicron. Luckily omicron doesn't seem to be as dangerous as delta, even if it's extremely easy to get.

My youngest son (not vaccinated) got it, had more than 39 C temperature for a couple of days, then recovered. Husband (3 vaccines) got it from him with the same symptoms. I (2 vaccines) didn't get it, and eldest son (not vaccinated) didn't get it either. We all live in the same apartment. But delta is still around. You can't be sure which one you are getting.

So im pretty sure that was omicron. For the QuickTime I got it. Also I used mask all the time, distance etc.
