Suprisingly good trailer. Bale and Robbie look great.

The production design and costumes look quite good, but this trailer felt like a best-of highlight reel of the fourth season of Fargo.

This film has been doing VERY well in test screenings. The trailer is definitely good. Excited! Huh that's interesting, how recently?? I thought I remembered hearing a few months ago that the test screenings weren't going that well.

I couldn't even follow what was going on in the trailer so good luck with the whole movie, huh? But good dialogue and obviously that's a stacked cast. And it looks great, fantastic understated lighting which is rare today since everything is overlit like a soap opera for someone watching on a tablet.

New date: deadline.com/2022/08/david-o-russell-amsterdam-moves-up-to-october-1235093608/ Disney is filling the desert that’s left at the fall box office by moving up New Regency/20th Century’s David O. Russell movie Amsterdam to Oct. 7. The pic was previously scheduled to open on Nov. 4.The pic which received a name title and dropped a trailer at April’s CinemaCon is set in the ’30s, and follows three friends who witness a murder, become suspects themselves, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history.

Moving it up a month is probably not a good sign, I'd think that means the studio aren't expecting a BP contender.

Opening to a 20% on RT and a 44 on Metacritic. Welp. I'm sure part of it has to do with the approriate response to O'Russell as a person, but still between this and The Greatest Beer Run, bad time to be a controversial Oscar player. Also hopefully this is the end of the road for O'Russell. Irregardless of the quality, man doesn't deserve to be employed.

Because while that's wild and very weird, Russell screaming at actors isn't.

I don't think it's not a wrong thing to at least bring up, when talking about this movie.

Is he writing a movie review or a think piece about the Director?

That's disappointing. I'm not an O. Russell fan but I like a lot of the actors in this and the trailer looked interesting enough. I am always wary of RT & MC though.

Well you referenced the reviews are bad in part because of Russell’s personal life.

It's probably also a pretty badly done film overall.

Very disappointing and exactly as I feared. While I will reserve my final judgment until I watch it, I was already expecting it to be middle-brow at best. Bale needs to get his shit together for the fans and stop hanging around unimaginative directors for real.

On the one hand, fuck David O. Russell.
On the other hand, it's a shame that an adult drama commanding that high a price tag is tanking so hard because it means that already-leery studios are going to be even more unwilling to invest money in films like this.
On the other other hand, fuck David O. Russell.
