Sneider's rumor of the week is about the David O Russell Christian Bale/Jennifer Lawrence pic. He's hearing that JLAW is out and that right now it's Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, and Jamie Foxx. Tentatively titled "Amsterdam"

So I guess that explains DOR's presence at one of the Bombshell screenings!

I'd love to see Bale and Robbie work together but not in a DOR film.
He makes him winning oscar and having another nom, what can you say...
What's the point of having multiple Oscar nominations when your filmography itself is boring. Down the line you want your films to be cherished by the public. DOR is good with actors but ultimately makes forgettable films.

You didn't enjoy SLP?
I did. I liked Fighter and even American Hustle too but i don't have much passion for them now and i will never ever re-watch.
I dunno why all that hate about DOR. Kind of overrated imo but not a bad film maker overall.
Because he has the reputation of being extremely difficult to work with and I heard that he reduced poor Amy Adams to tears on the sets of American Hustle.

We spoke about The Irishman and looking back on one’s life. How do you feel when you look back on yours? There must be some sense of contentment, looking back on all you’ve accomplished and built.
I have other projects I want to work on, and I like to keep busy—I enjoy that. I consider myself very lucky, so I just need to keep going. I have a couple of things I’m doing, including a new project with Marty next year, Killers of the Flower Moon, which is set up at Paramount. I have a new project with David O. Russell. So, I’m not done yet.

Probably because as a person he is said to be pretty despicable.
I actually wouldn't even call him overrated as I don't know many people that call him a great director. Though when you're going by his three (directing) oscar nods, then I'd agree he's overrated. Also agree he's not a bad film maker. A solid one.

He has 5 Oscar nods in total!! That's what I call being overrated.

Yeah, was just talking about directing nods. And that 3 are already too much. I don't ever nod him I think.

His work in the Fighter worth a nod imo. Arguably SLP also. Although I don't remember the competition he had these years.
Oh, I like both of those films and directions quite a lot. Especially SLP. But I think 2012 is just so strong for me that he misses the Top 5. (He's 6th though I think). He might sneak in for The Fighter in the lesser 2010 though.

Just checked it out. 2012 was indeed very strong year. You're right he could have missed the nod.
Weird. Unless Mob Girl is shooting very soon, it's hard to understand J-Law being replaced when he said in April at the Tribeca talk that he was writing something for her, and was just at her wedding.
A hot project is coming together that is expected to draw a strong cast. David O. Russell has written and will direct an untitled film that will star Christian Bale. The film is on a fast track at New Regency through its overall deal with Fox/Disney.
Plot specifics are being kept close to the vest. I’m hearing the project is eyeing an April production start. Matthew Budman is aboard as producer.
The movie would reteam Bale and Russell who worked together on 2010’s The Fighter. Bale won the Supporting Actor Oscar that year, the first of his four Oscar noms. The film scored seven Oscar noms overall including for Best Picture and Directing for Russell.
