Robbie looks like Jack White meets Rose the Hat. Christian Bale again looking like Per Oscarsson in Hunger.

This is DOR's first movie post-#MeToo. I remember MattFincher opine that the reason DOR has laid low and not made a movie in many years is so he can let the storm subside and not get #MeTooed, and I think he may have a point. For those who didn't know, DOR was accused by his transgender niece of Misdemeanor Battery for inappropriately touching her breasts without permission. Far as I know, nothing came of it, but it has been brought up from time to time. Here is a copy of the police report for those interested. Now, I have a strong aversion toward DOR and I wouldn't fret in the slightest if his career were to end tomorrow, but he is legally innocent of the crime. Reading the report makes him sound like a douche bag (quelle surprise) at best and a sexual molester at worst, so I wonder if this thing could blow up given the current climate, and how that could impact the movie's reception. We saw how Nate Parker was impacted as recently as this year, but will DOR being a much bigger deal and the accusation not being as serious help him avoid the brunt? Or could he and his movie be hurt by the court of public opinion?

His grossness coupled with his behavior on set has made him someone ripe for a takedown, and I do agree that he probably kept his head down when #metoo started. Remember that he was supposed to have that big Amazon project with De Niro and Julianne Moore with a $160 million price tag on it, and that just fell through right around then? And now he's got a bevy of the biggest names in Hollywood working for him, and I think he's probably hoping that they'd shield him from any negative press. I would bet dollars to doughnuts he's also a pussycat on set nowadays and wouldn't dare to give them the Amy Adams treatment.

Until he makes successful movies commercially or awards season wise, he'll be fine, it's clearly for this reasons that A-list talent is still willing to work with him and be in his movies. These are not Weinstein or Allen level allegations or whatever. It's more like the Tarantino/Uma Thurman story that provoked outrage on Twitter and online for one or two days, and then during last awards season everyone completely forgot about it.

I was wondering about if the hammer will fall now on Russell after the latest story on Rubin didn’t go away like all the other stories about him before have. Not that I have any faith that Rudin won’t go away for a short time and return to say that he’s cured now because went to see someone about his issues, but it’s more than I thought would happen when the story first came out.
