She's always been melodramatic (which is why she was perfect casting for this movie), you can't fault her for that NOW.

I've posted this before I think - maybe (?) - and I'm sure everybody knows it - but this is the best burn for people who say anything negative about her. I mean ALL she is, is famous. This is what everyone who's ever had an argument on a message board hopes to achieve. She just wins at everything - nomination, no nomination.........whatever.........she could basically come out and say anything about any subject and I'd be like.......alrighty then - whatever you say Queen

Interesting article from Hollywood Reporter. Seems most people after-the-fact are now fingerings Gaga's ridiculously obnoxious " Queen Of Method Acting", intro into Stanislavski for dummies nonsense campaigning as a major reason for her snub (to which I say...duh ). While most people here were like "you go girl, talk as much about acting craft as you want. You da queen girl!!!!" when I brought this up, common sense dictated that what she was doing and saying would be incredibly off-putting (especially to actual professional actors within AMPAS who have been doing this much longer than her. She came off patronising as well as OTT). Anyone who wanted Gaga to get the nod should have told her to shut the fuck up, instead of encouraging her extraness.

Why would Lady Gaga not be exactly like herself - overbearing and too much - during the Oscar campaign anyway - movie awards dweebs are always saying elitist stupid sh it like that - you don't see music fans ripping on Scarjo's album not get a Grammy nod do you? .........but if Gaga was nodded no one would have been surprised - people just look for excuses after the fact to appear "in the know" - it's like if Smith doesn't win the movie geniuses will say "why was he so quiet and not talking more!".......and unfortunately these asshats are magnified on fncking Twitter now She missed the nod, tough break, way it goes ......talk to Jake Gyllenhaal, Ethan Hawke, a billion other people......shrug......they didn't think you were good enough, don't like you enough or you didn't pay enough .............same as everybody else. How can people delude them selves about "reasons" for Oscar nominations in 2022?

How can people delude them selves about "reasons" for Oscar nominations in 2022? And when the Oscars ratings are at a record low again, I’m sure there will be a million clickbait articles about how voters missed their chance of nominating Gaga and No Way Home. (Not that I want low ratings to happen, but unfortunately it seems like the writing is on the wall again. Also ratings would probably be the same or just a little bit higher even if Gaga and No Way Home would have been nominated because I don’t think the general public cares about the ceremony anymore, but all the entertainment publications will use her name to get more eyeballs on their stories.) Anyhow in more pleasant talk, this is something I can watch over and over again, and will probably be way more entertaining than whatever they do with the Oscar ceremony this year to try to get more people to watch. ETA: And just like clockwork, the clickbait about the ratings have already begun. I didn’t even go look for this article, I was just reading another forum and someone posted it commenting about how depressing the responses are to it. I only scrolled through about 20-30 of the replies, and the only semi-positive one was that they’d watch the ceremony but not admit to anyone that they did.

It's so hilarious and disturbing to see tbh - I posted it yesterday in the Al Pacino News thread and was shocked it didn't get a WTF! reaction ......yesterday was the best news day EVER - 1 story about him touching Penelope Cruz's baby to "bless the child" (since he's God) told by Javier Bardem and this thing ^ .........and the Penelope Cruz story is the more normal, comprehensible one

How can people delude them selves about "reasons" for Oscar nominations in 2022? Weren't you the guy endlessly posting "advice" to Will Smith at the start of the season to stop frigging talking about his personal/sex life/giving loud interviews, so he wouldn't lose frontrunner status (and give Washington a chance at a 3rd Oscar. There are literally posts where you say this) .Why shouldn't Smith have been his very self....oversharing and loud? You kept telling him otherwise. Now the shoe is on Gaga's foot, you are all for complete personal expression during Oscar campaigns and acting like it isn't an act of stupidity and self-sabotage to just blurt any old shit you feel like during an Oscar campaign. To be fair, you were right about Smith. But this 180 for Gaga is just hypocrisy at it's finest. You do this very kind of thing all the time when it suits you, then pretend to be above it all when it doesn't. This was you about Smith a few months ago BTW:
Sept 28, 2021 11:09:01 GMT pacinoyes said: Last night Will Smith was on Entertainment Tonight talking about HIS extramarital affairs (yeah, good move there - that's very endearing ) and the GQ article has his quote on his desire at one time "for wanting "a harem of girlfriends" (good move #2, get that female vote!) He doesn't know how to play the role of being the annoited #1 ......he's like a kid......Washington is a grown ass man ...for the campaign he'll portray himself as acting Zen master - the wise old Yoda dude - he will be this: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt" ........ Will has to knock off that clown shit - you're 53 dude - act like it wtf.......stop talking like that dumbass ......you want to beat Denzel Washington - look at how Casey Affleck did it - shut your mouth, win at least one precursor (SAG most likely, Globe if they have it whatever) and hope Zel doesn't win the other 1 (BAFTA)......and even then you aren't safe........"
What you said about Smith was actually correct (hey, I can give you credit when it's due). He started to keep his mouth shut, and it will probably get him the win. That's how this game has always worked and you know it. Guess you just didn't give that much of a shit about Gaga if you were fine with her blowing her own chances in similar fashion.

I think it has more to do with the film than Gaga herself. The Academy obviously did not care for House of Gucci.

The industry disliked Spencer more than any other movie this season, and AMPAS was not interested in it outside of Stewart. I think Stewart smartly campaigned her ass off after she missed the SAG nomination (getting screenings hosted by Rami Malek, Julianne Moore etc), going on talkshows and being quite chill and likable, and she probably pipped Gaga right at the end. Part of awards season and Oscars has always been about saying and the doing the right things and being personable. When Anne Thompson is willing to go on a GoldDerby podcast and say she thinks Gaga's personality is "fake" (this was during the week people thought Gaga was the new Frontrunner after the BAFTA nods were announced), then one needs to acknowledge Gaga has major PR problems when it comes to how she is perceived by many in the film industry.

Animal work is actually pretty common for actors and dates back to Maria Ouspenskaya, who besides being famous for playing Maleva in The Wolf Man was also a pupil of Stanislavski's. Anthony Hopkins did it for Silence of the Lambs. Brando's done it. Jim Carrey too. Indeed...........De Niro famously patterned Travis Bickle on a crab as well ......... Very recently Tahar Rahim talked about mirroring the movements of a king cobra for his role as serial killer Charles Sobhraj, as well. I guess it's just film snobbery targeted at Gaga... I mean, how dare a pop star talk this way?

Actors don't like when a pop star suddenly talks pretentiously about the craft and she acts as if she's this method female version of Daniel Day-Lewis.

I did see people mocking her elsewhere for acting like she's a female Daniel Day Lewis with all her talk. It definitely wasn't just on here.

For someone like her to say something like that, I think it’s a strong indicator that many industry people were turned off by Gaga’s campaign.
