Interview talking about how this goes over with SAG for the acting - Gaga and Leto - and Gaga here giving a quote that sounds vaguely Pacinoesque - not pacinoyes-esque but the actor ........but yeah me too sure why not....... Lady Gaga Will Land a Best Actress Oscar Slot, Not for the Last Time — Here’s Why

Will be very interesting to see its global totals - it's in all markets now and the studio clearly sees a Gaga win possible and a BP nod possible too........ morton BoxOfficeReport.com @borreport This weekend's location count for House of Gucci is 1,307 (an increase of 700 locations from the past week).

This already is more - far more - than all of these BA threats combined (even though some were streaming of course) so looking extremely good for PGA and BP too nod - not a lock by any means but it's still going strong:
Spencer, Licorice Pizza, Being The Ricardos, TToM, Parallel Mothers, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Respect, The Lost Daughter
Grosses DOMESTIC (35.4%) $51,272,374 INTERNATIONAL (64.6%) $93,439,000 WORLDWIDE $144,711,374

Really selling it on Kimmel last night - sexy, funny, doing the accent - unasked! - when she's talking about the film towards the end - like some lunatic Method Acting Queen Bitch. Really don't get Kidman or Colman being favorites over her.........I got 150 million + reasons that it should be her...um.........particularly if she's the only one with a BP nominee........her actual post-nomination campaign may be truly frightening

Add the catty makeout scene onto what's been cut - all amazing stuff - Studio 54 sequence, Pacino in prison, and the great "Firrrrrecracker" line from the trailer (that wasn't in the movie, right?). We want the finest extended version available, we want it here and we want it now!

My god....I thought Gaga was bad during her A Star Is Born campaign, but she is actually managing to be even more extra on this. Someone needs to make her stop talking about acting. She is the anti-Ethan Hawke (who is insightful on his craft). It's genuinely painful to watch her keep blathering shit like this. A cat!!!! A fox!!!!
Somebody make her stop!

I’d like to think Laurence Olivier would be rolling his eyes repeatedly hearing Lady Gaga and Jared Leto talk about their process..lol.

Meh - if that was David Bowie (RIP) talking like that - we'd say "oh that's interesting - he's a genius you know?" That's the leash we give to males and not females I guess....fnck the Patriarchy .......or something.......shrug I don't get while film fans bust on Gaga for her pretensions - she's a Pop Star - that's what Pop Stars do - except very few Pop Stars have ever had her success in film this quickly out of the gate to be granted the luxury to act that way. She's a breath of fresh air to me - across the rotting caracass of a shitty film industry - Oscar nomination or not - and I think she could still miss for a nod in BA - that's how deep the cattiness and insular snobbery towards her is. It's just her whole schtick - she had the biggest hit movie of its type - in TWO YEARS - because she isn't "merely" an actress so I don't see why she can't "act like an actress" and we indulge her goofy side - that's what she's doing .....it's part of the fun around her and that she brings........and it matches the whole zaniness of her movie too.......

If Gaga wasn't in a successful movie with Al Pacino, I can almost guarantee you'd fucking loathe her and mock her pretensions endlessly

...... ^ interesting point coming from someone who defends Whitney Houston (RIP) for The Preacher's Wife because Denzel Washington is in it. Pot Kettle Black Bye.

What the hell are you on about? I barely ever talk about Whitney Houston at all . If anything, she's the weak link in The Preacher's Wife acting-wise, but almost compensates for it with her singing (which is phenomenal, and a big reason for the enduring success of the film’s soundtrack) and looks. The strongest performances in that film are from Washington and Courtney B Vance. Just because the movie is a Christmas classic doesn’t give me any illusions that Houston was a great actress. She's a great singer, the camera loved her face and she's was a pretty middling actor, if that. The end. So stop trying to deflect .

Honestly, I have no idea why people are shitting on Gaga for talking about her process. The end result is what matters and she gave a pretty damn good performance.

Animal work is actually pretty common for actors and dates back to Maria Ouspenskaya, who besides being famous for playing Maleva in The Wolf Man was also a pupil of Stanislavski's. Anthony Hopkins did it for Silence of the Lambs. Brando's done it. Jim Carrey too.

The fox comment was a bit out of nowhere but she was pretty clearly invoking cat-like body language throughout the movie. Same with a lot of noir femme fatales.

Honestly, I have no idea why people are shitting on Gaga for talking about her process. The end result is what matters and she gave a pretty damn good performance. I'm sorry, but she is extra. She just is. A lot of people give Jared Leto shit for being this obnoxious about his "craft",and even though I think Leto is a talented actor, I can fully agree why many people feel that he can also be considered a tool. Gaga is actually getting worse than Leto in some ways. At least you get a sense with Leto now that he's leaning into the joke that he's a pretentious, over-the-top twat when it comes to talking about his "craft". That stuff he came up with about his character in House Of Gucci being his " love letter to Italy" and if you checked his blood, it'd be made up of Olive oil and pasta sauce , was kind of funny, because it definitely felt like he was mocking himself and his reputation. There's no irony when Gaga does this. A lot of it feels wildy over-the-top, and it's like a kid saying things they think will impress adults. Saying she needed a psychiatric nurse on set because she was "so into this character " just feels like one in a litany of things she's coming up with every other interview to prove she's the most dedicated method actor we've seen since Daniel Day-Lewis. It's incredibly irritating and feels facile from her. I saw this blog piece below about the amount of alleged lies Gaga has probably told on this film's press tour, and all I could do was nod my head and say, "this is probably about right". No one is saying actors can't talk about their process, but as with Leto in the past, sometimes it's better to keep some of your process a mystery or risk people thinking your a tool. In isolation, some of her talk about her process isn't that bad. But she keeps trying to top herself with new proof of her dedication to "acting" in different interviews, and the cumulative effect is that it makes her seem ridiculous. ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/122628832.html

Yeah Gaga isn't even the first one I think of in 2021 actually but she's close - in my review of Nightmare Alley I called Blanchett's performance "leontine"...........and I mean........just look at her.........I mean she even just sits like a lion

Gaga's extra pretentiousness about acting is the gift that keeps on giving . This video of her with Salma Hayek is a hoot.
