Bohemian Rhapsody's numbers were worse than that. This movie isn’t making 900 million. Point still stands. Specific examples just prove possibility not likelihood. Those examples are exceptions. If there are examples every year, they stop becoming exceptions and start becoming things that happen. We know this movie will be seen and MGM will campaign the shit out of it. The only thing that matters is how it plays within the industry. Big cast with 2 potential standout performances could get a lot of love from the actor's branch.

At no point did I not say they aren’t things that happen sometimes. Just because they do happen doesn’t mean they will this time. It may but those examples don’t prove that this will be a best picture nominee. I personally think the love will stop at Gaga and maybe Leto (and costumes of course) but we will see. I don’t think this is going to be a gigantic hit with audiences outside of Gaga fans. I may be wrong and we will know more once guilds start but this is my prediction for now.

Reviews are better than Tammy Faye yet people think Chastain is a lock in what might be the movie's only nom.
House of Gucci has a better release and Gaga/Leto will be everywhere. The reviews won't take it out of the running in any acting categories. Oh she's definitely ahead of Chastain, who is probably down to like 8th or 9th at this point. I think Gaga could be our classic GG/SAG snub tbh.

Love this clip! A person born into wealth would never stir their coffee/tea and then lick the spoon... New money is kinda loud. A real coffee lover would never add sugar to their coffee.

Not sure about Gaga getting a second Oscar nomination for acting after seeing this. She’s has a lot of great moments, but I’m not sure if it was her or the script or both, but her performance seem very forced. I would say during some scenes during the second half. Of course I’m odd because I think I preferred the second half, when most reviews/comments I’ve read so far prefer the first half. On the other hand given how weak his category is, I really can’t see Leto missing. Sometimes he’s just terrible, but other times he really made me feel for his character. It really is a performance that other actors are going to eat up. In fact, I could see this doing well at SAG and the Globes if they happen. Don’t know about the Oscars. I don’t think it’s something they’d go for, but if it actually makes some money, and at least deserves some nominations for some technical categories, plus Leto, maybe Gaga, and I guess a really small chance for Adapted Screenplay, then maybe it can get in to Best Picture.

Gotta really love how they give no fucks at all - in any way - not just ads like this - but the swagger of this cast in interviews and the almost "you didn't get it" tone is pretty hilarious.........I'm sure 83 year old Ridley Scott is highly amused

Leto is such a pretentious asshole, but I halfway think he fully knows it, plays up to it and is trolling as well, so I can't completely hate it

" Olive Oil For Blood"...... Nah, he is definitely leaning into it.

Tbh, I woukd like him to get snubbed and then do a video where he just says "BOOF - I was-a so close-ah!" in full Paolo makeup

He probably went to the wrong region instead of Tuscany. Not a surprise, as he didn't look like the real Paolo at all.

“The casting of Hayek is particularly inspired given that her husband is the current owner of Gucci, a fact which will be lost on the mainstream audience,” he said of the House of Gucci star’s turn as the psychic and friend of Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani, wife of Driver’s Maurizio."
Interesting that he'd refer to that as "inspired" when I'm guessing most peoples first reaction would be a form of nepotism that her husband exerted on the production (maybe not, but I'm not sure I'd use the word "inspired" there)
His comments are good illustration at the difference between "movie life and real life" even if you lived some of it - there is movie reality and what we respond to and there is a "real reality" that we really don't..........until somebody makes a movie about that reality.......that's one of the things that make movies in general so wonderful - it's the same thing where almost every Vietnam veteran I know pretty much hates - or at least can't watch - Apocalypse Now - because "it wasn't like that" ...........which is exactly why it's so great.

WTF? TOM FORD denigrating something for its lack of subtlety?? Can a movie not be both farce AND gripping tale of greed?? Does rich boy not have a self deprecating bone in his body? “As with most films based on a true story, facts are altered, characters are exaggerated, timelines warped — and, in the end, who cares as long as these alterations yield a great movie?”Right, exactly. So all this bemoaning is pointless. “The casting of Hayek is particularly inspired given that her husband is the current owner of Gucci, a fact which will be lost on the mainstream audience,”
HAHA! STUPID POOR PEOPLE! God, what an asshole. Hollywood has been doing this for a century, now in the age of instant global communication we have to hear people whining about it like it's something new. This is going to get so old, so fast.

Tom Ford, director of such nuanced and subtle works as *checks notes* Nocturnal Animals, decides to take shots at another filmmaker.

Tom Ford weighs in.My favorite quote: "Paolo, whom I met on several occasions, was indeed eccentric and did some wacky things, but his overall demeanor was certainly not like the crazed and seemingly mentally challenged character of Leto’s performance."
