Jesse Plemons's tally is impressive considering his age.

Bobby D and Jack remain unchallenged for another year. Good God, here's our new updates: 5:Jesse Plemons ( Bridge of Spies, The Post, Vice, The Irishman, Judas and the Black Messiah) David Strathairn ( L.A. Confidential, Good Night, and Good Luck, Lincoln, Darkest Hour, Nomadland) Jeremy Strong ( Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Selma, The Big Short, Trial of the Chicago 7) 4:Frances McDormand ( Mississippi Burning, Fargo, Three Billboards..., Nomadland) Alfred Molina ( Raiders of the Lost Ark, An Education, Vice, Promising Young Woman) 3:Joseph Gordon-Levitt ( Inception, Lincoln, Trial of the Chicago 7) Daniel Kaluuya ( Get Out, Black Panther, Judas and the Black Messiah) Michael Keaton ( Birdman, Spotlight, Trial of the Chicago 7) Frank Langella ( Good Night, and Good Luck, Frost/Nixon, Trial of the Chicago 7) Gary Oldman ( JFK, Darkest Hour, Mank) Eddie Redmayne ( Les Miserables, The Theory of Everything, Trial of the Chicago 7) Mark Rylance ( Bridge of Spies, Dunkirk, Trial of the Chicago 7) Lakeith Stanfield ( Selma, Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah) Anthony Hopkins also jumps up to 6, as does Martin Sheen. Updated, but a couple of things: 1. Double-checked Martin Sheen who I had at 5 just to be sure, and it looks like he went uncredited for JFK and Selma, which means he goes down to 4. Alfred Molina is also uncredited for a couple of his films. 2. Keeping the cut-off for the list at 4, because 3 would open up far too many options. I am even considering increasing the cut-off for the list to 5, but I would rather keep the ones I already have just for tracking purposes.

I only put the threes for future references, as all are steadily working actors who could figure into the four-timer club very soon quite easily. I know there's probably countless threes outside of these guys, but I figured it was good to have as a reference.

Good God's sticking to "credited" appearances, otherwise obviously Franklyn Farnum and Bess Flowers would be leaving everyone in the dust.

Elizabeth Taylor would also edge out Olivia de Havilland as the woman in the most Best Picture nominees, as she also appeared uncredited in Quo Vadis and Anne of the Thousand Days.

Gold Derby ruminated on Chalamet going from 2 (Little Women, CMBYN) currently to 5 after Dune, DLU, French Dispatch - probably not but fun to speculate.......

Benedict Cumberbatch should be here already with five: Atonement, War Horse, 12 Years a Slave, The Imitation Game, 1917. And it's almost guaranteed he has six after this year.

Likely new additions to the list after this year:
5: Timothee Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird, Little Women, Dune, Don’t Look Up) 4: Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Milk, True Grit, Dune) 4: Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, Dunkirk, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Don’t Look Up) 4: Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, The Hours, Lion, Being the Ricardos) 4: Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Don’t Look Up) 4: Jonah Hill (Moneyball, Django Unchained, The Wolf of Wall Street, Don't Look Up) 4: Rooney Mara (The Social Network, Her, Lion, Nightmare Alley)
Actors already on our list who are looking to be bumped up include:
10: Leonardo DiCaprio (Don’t Look Up) 9: Cate Blanchett (Don’t Look Up, Nightmare Alley) 9: Al Pacino (House of Gucci) 8: Meryl Streep (Don’t Look Up) 7: Willem Dafoe (Nightmare Alley) 7: Ed Harris (The Lost Daughter) 6: Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog) 6: Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog) 6: John C. Reilly (Licorice Pizza) 6: Bradley Cooper (Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley) 6: David Strathairn (Nightmare Alley) 5: Frances McDormand (The Tragedy of Macbeth) 5: Sean Penn (Licorice Pizza)
Depending on whether things like The Last Duel or The French Dispatch get a resurge of buzz, some of the above might see an extra number added to their tally (i.e. McDormand, Chalamet) and actors like Matt Damon would also see a bump, but I stuck with the films that are currently getting the most buzz.
Note that Richard Jenkins and J.K. Simmons could technically already be on this list already, but they have at least one uncredited role (Simmons for True Grit, Jenkins for Spotlight).
I know I left a lot of people off, but here's a good start.

stephen - Nicole Kidman could join this year, if Being the Ricardos' buzz is to be believed. She has three currently with Moulin Rouge!, The Hours, and Lion.

The Verdict Dune For an Oscar-winning film legend, Jeremy Irons, surprisingly, might also only hit his second. The Mission is his only Best Picture-nominated film.

Plemmons and Chalamet are obviously helped by the late 8-10 nominations rule. Still impressive.

It's her first (and so far only) SAG Ensemble nomination, too.

DiCaprio likely to join the all-time leaders this year at 47 - amazing stat but not for an amazing film imo. Pacino might get to 9 although HoG could easily miss ........Chalamet with 2 pretty locked this year it seems .....
10: Robert De Niro / Jack Nicholson
9: Ward Bond Gary Cooper Leonardo DiCaprio Tom Hanks William Holden Thomas Mitchell Spencer Tracy
8: Daniel Day-Lewis Olivia de Havilland Henry Fonda Harrison Ford John Gielgud Dustin Hoffman Burt Lancaster Al Pacino Gregory Peck Brad Pitt Claude Rains George E. Stone Tom Wilkinson

I would be curious to see what these totals would be like if either..
A. there had ALWAYS been an expanded BP field B. They had NEVER expanded the BP field
Like I think Chalamet and Plemmons would probable have 1 and 2 respectively if they never expanded.
I think it would have a huge effect of some of the more prolific supporting actors is they had always had it.
