oh man, the feeling you get when after putting 20+ hours of building, tweaking, and obsessively decorating your settlement in Fallout 4 and then outfitting and organizing all your settlers and you can finally say you're finished. Rookie numbers in this racket.

My problems with the base game of Bloodborne still stand (I'll elaborate once I'm finished with this playthrough), but The Old Hunters expansion is WONDERFUL and I am enjoying every second of it. I'm even enjoying losing 70,000 echoes to traps I can't see. The traps have me cackling (that wheelchair trap had me cackling), the one boss fight so far was fair and entertaining (although his second phase was so easy that I beat him first try once I got him into it - a bit more speed would have been appreciated), the emphasis on examining your surroundings as opposed to rushing in and killing everything is a return to what I loved about Dark Souls. This is a blast.

Been progging my first high difficulty, current content fight in FFXIV. I'm loving it. I'm very bad, of course, but once you realize that this is just pattern recognition, it isn't *that* scary. Just finished my third practice run and I can see definite progress in how to manage the fight, when to use my abilities. All this time in normal content, I never realized that the fairy is my *first* line of healing, and all this time I never realized that Recitation+Adloquium+Deployment Tactics is something you use in preparation for party wide hits instead of just... something you apply in prep for a tank buster in case someone is very, very stupid.
I can see myself actually... improving. I am panicking less, and I'm more mindful of resource management (although I still keep forgetting to pop Lucid Dreaming). Whether this will hold in other content, I don't know. But it's cool to see that I *can* do this, even if it is a baby's first hard mode.

I got Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower down to one hit left on my first go. Her cheating, splash damage inflicting, lying tell ass has been whooping mine ever since. I quite like her, don't get me wrong. She's not like the Living Failures (which were Rom but just more damage spongey and annoying). She's a proper woman... who can splash damage the whole arena and one-hit me. I'll enjoy displaying her eyes on my mantel in the Hunter's Dream.

You've just gotta remember that she's human... and that's an exploitable weakness! Get her against a wall so she can't jump away, hit her 20 times with the Blade of Mercy, throw the Augur of Ebrietas at her to give yourself a breather, and proceed to cut her up like a chef at Benihana.

Niiiiiice. Do you have mods? I put the game down for a long time and when I picked it up recently forgot I had the mod that gave women really large breasts. God, it's such a good game and the settlement building is so awesome.

God, it's such a good game and the settlement building is so awesome. haha the mods for F4 and Skyrim are totally unhinged and I love it Workshop Rearranged and Place Everywhere are must-haves and sometimes I spruce my settlements up a bit with OCDecorator but my load order is pretty modest on console. I couldn't imagine settlement building without mods but even with jut a couple I can sink hours and hours into it. Especially lategame when all the workshops are connected and you can build whatever you want. Do you have any favorite settlements? same question for you stephen I'm glad I'm not the only one who spends too much time on this stuff lol

Worked out a lot of pandemic stress and sent random visitors there that I would slaughter (I'm in therapy, it's fine ). Really love the Drive In and Abernathy farm.

> Runs the latest FFXIV Unreal Trial practice run > Recruits a very good party of people who are learning well, save for one person who is struggling > The guy with the mentor crown proceeds to call the guy braindead repeatedly and keeps yelling at him for not doing his job, even though the guy is learning if people actually explain mechanics to him > The guy with the mentor crown gets hit by EVERY SINGLE GOD DAMN MECHANIC and I have to keep saving his ass > The struggling newbie quits in the middle because he's "dragging the team down"

WORLD'S FIRST! WORLD'S FIRST!I made a joke in the Gold Saucer about making Praetorium challenging by running it in first person mode. Some people took me up on the offer and we did a first person run of Prae: Gunbreaker, Machinist x2, and Astro. We did it. We all have massive migraines and motion sickness, but we are the first people in the world to run Praetorium entirely in first person mode. It actually requires strategy and coordination, like an Extreme trial! We had to do callouts to know when attacks were coming and everything! Edit: There's a Youtube video of a guy doing this in first person, but a whole party is likely a first

I'm gonna need you as my Extreme guru. I still haven't completed any top level extreme, savage or unreal content. I'm always on the bottom half of a team's survival rate and my damage output is lousy, so I'm not necessarily the best guy to look for on coaching. That said, I'm gonna keep trying because I want to learn. Learning through party finder is an entertaining crapshoot, but I still intend to work it to the best of my ability

The FFXIV high five emote (available for skybuilders' scrips) has a slapping sound accompanying it.
The lalafell high five emote reaches upwards to *slap* the air.
I spent my night slapping a Godbert Manderville cosplayer's ass as he danced at the Gold Saucer in between duties.
My mother is very proud of me.

Just leveling up all my classes to 90 before I do so because that's me, baby!

Is it as ugly and dark as I was hoping? Btw, what's your username so I can send a friend request - I'm Kezon Ralazon on Diabolos (Crystal). I know you said your name at some point, but I don't know your world.

I know you said your name at some point, but I don't know your world. I am still marinating in my feelings on it, but overall I'd say it's a 9.5/10 game and my second favourite FF behind Heavensward. My issues with it are minor and I feel like a lot of them are because they may be leaving things open for potential DLCs down the line -- great characters being introduced later in the story than I would like, but considering they don't meet Clive for the bulk of the story and it is from his perspective most of the time, it's excusable. But yeah, rich characters, a fantastically dark world (almost too grim at times; the scale of death and destruction in this game is insane), great villains, and the combat is exquisite. I've been listening to Soken's score on loop ever since. I'm Aisling Greytide on Jenova.

Two hours past my bedtime, but it's the weekend. Finally cleared the current Unreal Trial of FF. Clutch tank LB after I... uh, forgot that a mechanic that we'd been avoiding all along was a thing... saved us all. Loads of fun to work through that for... the past month, crikey. The good news is that I think I have the thing drilled into my bones. I've never been into "hard" video games before FF and Dark Souls, but there's a pleasure in practicing something so much that you can do it in your sleep. I imagine that this is what playing a musical instrument is like: Repetition upon repetition, progressing forward until you have gotten to a point that you don't make major mistakes that ruin the run. The point is, I am learning more about the satisfaction of hard work from a damn video game than I ever did from my parents or job

I have started Celeste. There is a fine line between challenging and sadistically frustrating, and this crosses that line a dozen times in the first ninety minutes. There is no time to think, no time to see what is coming on the next screen because you are transitioning from a fall or a dash on a previous screen, you just have to die and hope that your brief glimpse of the area will be enough to calculate your next dozen moves... as soon as you're done going through the last five screens again just to reach that point. The collectables are pointless as well, since they add nothing to the story and are just challenge markers if you are masochistic enough to go for them.

Shadowbringers is finally in the books. All my combat classes are at Level 85 and now I'm set to begin Endwalker. Martin Stett, I would still have Heavensward as my favourite expansion. Shadowbringers was great but it also felt like a diversion from the primary story -- an excellent diversion, but it really was an overlong side quest more than anything else.
