Going Gladstone. Predicting Huller takes Bafta and then Gladstone takes SAG and the Oscar

Anatomy seems to be doing really well at the moment, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hüller taking it. Bening could win SAG too.

In terms of predictions and preferences, I still think Stone.

Who should win or who will win? I have no idea who will win but it shouldn't be the one who laid in a bed not dying for 117 hours without a real big Oscar scene and who is in the wrong category? Too much? I need to work on that tbh...... SAG can be really weird - see Denzel beating Affleck when he lost (mostly) everywhere else and people misreading the room when he had lost the Oscar already by missing BAFTA......I think Bening may win a career one too like that - wouldn't surprise me anyway......the better question is does SAG give a 4th award to Giamatti - who I like and all but is always a slight variation of Paul Giamatti for maybe the most Paul Giamatti role he could play (it would be 5 SAG awards if you count 1 he has for Best Cast)......

Don't people like HATE her film though? I think it's received worse than Maestro but Cooper is just more fun to shit on to people.

The quality of the movie doesn't seem to matter much for Best Actress wins as I don't think The Eyes of Tammy Faye or Judy were particularly beloved.
That said I doubt Bening has a shot, I see Gladstone winning SAG and Stone winning BAFTA as the most likely scenario so at least one major category could still be a race until the end besides the inevitable and boring Oppenheimer sweep.

To quote Pearl: NO, EMMA STONE! PLEASE, EMMA STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE! Is what I will be saying (and how I will be reacting) when Best Actress is announced.

Denzel had never won the SAG. Whereas Bening won it for American Beauty. If Gladstone doesn't win SAG, it's game over for her.

That wasn't really that surprising. Washington's performance was big and loud. Affleck was quiet and reserved. Who do you think SAG would go for?
The bed scenes (no spoilers) were extraordinarily well acted and went along with the theme of the film.
I really don't think running time matters to them. They picked Viola Davis for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
And yes, I do agree with the crowd that Bening could win SAG. It is a physically demanding performance.

May I ask, why do people think Gladstone will win over Stone? Does it have anything to do with her being a member of multiple Native American tribes?

Tbh that was during the last days of Oscar Buzz and iirc I posted that I was surprised Washington won - given how much Affleck had cleaned up awards - and people seized on that as mattering far more than it did - particularly with Affleck's "scandal" which seemed for the 1st time then that it was catching up to him.........but I also remember saying at that time that Affleck was still a slam dunk to win Oscar (imo) because he had so many other things in his favor - and getting a lot of pushback from the board back then............a lot of people thought that SAG was a turning point in that race.........But............

Yes, I think she got that going for her... but that's not taking away from the performance itself which I'm a fan of. Also, Stone's role I think is too unormal, wild and "out there"... when was the last time a portryal of a "fantastical" being won an Oscar?

I am a big fan of her performance too, especially the bed scenes. It's both a subtle performance and physically/emotionally draining.
If Gladstone wins SAG and Stone doesn't win BAFTA, my prediction will probably go to Gladstone.
We should also look at the fact that SAG comes after BAFTA. That's going to be key. Voters who are unsure, will probably lean toward the SAG winner.

I believe the fact that Gladstone wasn’t top 3 with BAFTA voters sinks her chances. The eventual lead actress winners who did not win BAFTA most likely were all top 3 in their year, except maybe those whose film came out a year later in the UK and were placed in a different year.
Obviously there are a couple who didn’t even get nominated at the BAFTAs like Gladstone, but KotFM is not gonna surge like Million Dollar Baby and Gladstone is no Hollywood PTA President Sandra Bullock.

If Stone wins neither BAFTA nor SAG in the coming weeks and Gladstone wins SAG, then I will change my prediction to Gladstone. Otherwise I think Emma Stone wins.

I honestly think Bening is winning SAG. There’s a ton of good will for her amongst SAG members for her efforts during the strike. Couple that with the Foster nom, Netflix and a SAG-friendly film and I’m becoming more and more convinced.
