I don't know when Oscar voting closes, but this is what she absolutely needed! A great speech on the last televised award show before the Oscars which will influence lots of Academy voters. No way now the Academy passes up on making history. Exactly.
Emma Stone could very well win Best Actress. She won 3/4 major precursor awards. But I think the momentum feels totally Gladstone here.
Gladstone is the heart and emotional center of the film -- representation of Native American oppression.
Voting for Gladstone means they can make history AND redeem themselves from the Sacheen Littlefeather misfire.
But more importantly, they're voting for a brilliant performance. It's a performance that requires both subtlety and physicality.

Yeah, I'm switching to Lily. Yeah me too. I think the rapturous reactions to her win sealed the deal.

Last year I went with the BAFTA winners instead of the SAG winners and it bit me in the ass. I think I’ll go with Gladstone for now because if she can win over the basic fuckers of SAG-AFTRA, she’ll probably take the Oscar too.

It won't be Huller (f the BAFTAs), so I don't care that much. I'm waiting for SAG this weekend. If Gladstone wins it, that will make the race more interesting. And it got more interesting. Everything else is so predictable. I keep see-sawing, but at this point, I'm going to say Gladstone. Her moment at SAG will make the last impression before Oscar voting ends, no?

Is anybody here still going with Stone? The stone without the Glad. Yes... I suppose she has a higher number of wins by this point but that's all the logic I got for this. I just don't want this flame to die honestly lol.

Is anybody here still going with Stone? The stone without the Glad. Yes... I suppose she has a higher number of wins by this point but that's all the logic I got for this. I just don't want this flame to die honestly lol. Lets see here:
Among the big four televised awards, you have Stone with Globe, Critics Choice, and BAFTA. Gladstone with Globe and SAG.
If we look at the ten oldest critics circle groups, we have Gladstone with NBR, NY, Boston, Southeastern, Dallas, and Kansas City. Stone won Chicago, LA, and London.
When I look at my Awards Season chart, I count 24 wins for Gladstone, and 18 for Stone.
For the 21st century Oscars, Halle Berry, Olivia Colman, and Michelle Yeoh are the only ladies to win Best Actress without winning the most or tied for the most televised wins. In two of those three races, the Academy went with the SAG winner and went with a historic first. Berry first black woman. Yeoh first Asian woman.
In Colman v. Close, Colman had much more critic circle wins and her film was up for picture, director, supporting actress x 2, writing, and editing. The Wife only had one nomination.
For 2024, both Killers and Poor, have double digit Oscar nominations. I think voters are passionate about both films.
The only thing I which could come into the play is that BAFTA omission. Close and Yeoh were nominated for the BAFTA. Berry made the BAFTA top five in the next calendar year.

Well I had no idea. It's Lily then... again though - and I know in remaining days it's too much to ask - some form of craziness would be welcomed. Imagine a Bening upset... LOL.

Gladstone. Stone already has an Oscar and will have more opportunities to be nominated and win again. Similar to Blanchett last year.

SAG can be really weird - see Denzel beating Affleck when he lost (mostly) everywhere else and people misreading the room when he had lost the Oscar already by missing BAFTA......I think Bening may win a career one too like that - wouldn't surprise me anyway......the better question is does SAG give a 4th award to Giamatti - who I like and all but is always a slight variation of Paul Giamatti for maybe the most Paul Giamatti role he could play (it would be 5 SAG awards if you count 1 he has for Best Cast)...... That wasn't really that surprising. Washington's performance was big and loud. Affleck was quiet and reserved. Who do you think SAG would go for?
The bed scenes (no spoilers) were extraordinarily well acted and went along with the theme of the film.
I really don't think running time matters to them. They picked Viola Davis for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
And yes, I do agree with the crowd that Bening could win SAG. It is a physically demanding performance.
What bed scenes?

Huller surge splits up the block of the International votes, which are in Emma's favour. This benefits Gladstone.

From the four leaked Oscar ballots it's been reported that there's being an increasing enthusiasm among Academy members about Huller's performance.
