I don’t really believe in vote splitting. These performances are all competing with each other. Not more so with performance in the same film. Vote splitting didn’t hurt the Banshees men or EEAO women last year. But it hurt Belfast and The Fabelmans. Banshees men both got in everywhere last year, and EEAAO turned out to be the biggest sweeper of all time. The fact that Ruffalo is missing everywhere shows that Poor Things is more like Belfast/The Fabelmans. Not really… both movies still got someone in. People who missed SAG even.

Yeah I think one will get in, but Idk who to predict now so I'm predicting neither lol.

If The Holdovers gets Payne and Sessa in, it's winning BP. Nah, it'll just mean Oppy will have a definite runner-up. I think Holdovers would still be the definitive runner up even without Sessa.

nothing would make me happier than twin noms for Keoghan and Pike. I'm manifesting it like Oliver manifested that inheritance 🤞

So can we finally put to rest that Robbie will be snubbed at Oscar - for Bening - who only has a GG nod. Robbie, Stone, Mulligan are the only 3 who have made GG, CC, SAG, BAFTA. The last 2 spots will likely go to Gladstone and Huller. Lee only has GG and CC. Bening actually has a SAG nod though. Lee's chance is totally dead in the water.

Getting a funny feeling about Lanthimos. He really shouldn't have missed here.

Getting a funny feeling about Lanthimos. He really shouldn't have missed here. Well, him missing just means that he wasn't top 2 (the jury not picking him is kind of meaningless, imo), plus Poor Things did very well overall. It does seem he's kind of vulnerable now compared to some other folks (well, Nolan basically) but an Oscar miss for a 1) directorial achievement of this particular nature 2) in a big BP nominee 3) which got a DGA nom would be pretty damn weird.

Getting a funny feeling about Lanthimos. He really shouldn't have missed here. I'd say having him as top two against Triet and Glazer was always going to be a hard sell, as Nolan already had the top spot locked and those two films were bound to do exceedingly well here, and I feel like Glazer especially was getting the hometown boost. What shocks me is that the jury felt the need to save Bradley Cooper of all people.

I wanted to share what the user Philip H. said about BAFTA's new juried system on The Film Experience's post summarizing the nominations. It perfectly encapsulates how I feel about this ridiculous system.
