I wouldn't be surprised if after all the tax breaks from filming in California that the final posted budget ends up a good bit smaller than the initially reported $100m.

At the end of the day it's gonna be 80-90 Million like Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

Vineland confirmed but he's updating it to the modern US.
I'm not familiar with the novel but there were rumors last year that PTA was looking to cast someone as Marjorie Taylor Greene. I wonder if that makes sense here.

Hmmmm, so it is Vineland after all. I guess PTA is going to be highlighting the War on Terror instead of the War on Drugs, which is doable.

Also, I know it's DiCaprio, and it won't make a difference in my pockets, but $100 million seems a bit excessive for PTA doing this.

I mean, Vineland's never going to be my favourite Pynchon (it's probably bottom of the list save for Bleeding Edge if I'm honest), but I'm curious about how PTA is going to remix it for modern sensibilities. This will probably be the closest we get to his commentary on Trump-era America as well, so at least in that respect, it'll be interesting. You're preaching to the choir here when it comes to budgets.

Teyana Taylor, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, and Shayna McHayle join the cast. I was hoping Alana would at least have a cameo so I'm very happy now!

Wood Harris is a ridiculously underrated actor. One of the best American screen actors working. From Paid In Full to The Wire to Dredd to The New Edition Story, he delivers time and time again, often in mid-projects, but always bringing his singular intensity, gravitas and charisma to it. I remember saying years ago that it may take him till middle age to finally become properly rated as a mainstream screen icon, but if anyone can (and should) do it, it's this guy. Essentially, I think he can get that later career iconic status the same way someone like Morgan Freeman did when he was older.
Here's hoping PTA gave Harris a juicy role. I'd love this guy to win a supporting actor Oscar.

I'd love this guy to win a supporting actor Oscar. Obviously he's always be Avon Barksdale to me, but I've always thought Harris elevates any role he's given, even the minor ones. When he showed up in Blade Runner 2049 I was super-thrilled, even if he's only in it for one scene in a throwaway part, but in that brief scene he made the most of his time, and I do think there's a reasonable spinoff series about 2049-era LAPD he'd be a great leading character for. I'm really glad PTA's taking notice of him, the way he did with Michael K. Williams for Inherent Vice.
