Fantasy League 2018: Chayefsky's Champs

Gotcha. May try to aim for Thursday, then. It also doesn't have to be at 8, I was just trying to ballpark a time that would be convenient for the most people. But considering we've at least got an Aussie on this team, I have a feeling that might not be the most convenient time    So I am open to any and all time/date suggestions. 

Alright. I'm gonna officially propose Thursday at 8:00pm EST as our draft time. This should give people plenty of time to respond and to get their ballots ready. But again, if this doesn't work for anyone, please let me know. 

And remember: get your ballots in as soon as you can!!

I think Thursday night works for me but I’m putting together rankings list to be safe.

I'm thinking chatroom ... that's how it was done last year. 

And that's okay, just make sure you submit a ballot to me by Thursday so that I can draft for you while you're AFK. 

Alright team, we're less than 36 hours until the draft. Just a reminder to quetee  bruinjoe96  Pittsnogle_Goggins  michael128 (????) to submit your lists to me as soon as possible. If you can 100% confirm that you'll be present for the draft, even better. 

Uh, not really. I mean, only 2018 stuff, obviously. Or I should say, stuff that is eligible for 2018 awards. And each list should be in ranked order. That's really all there is to it, though. 

I'm gonna send out the link by PM tomorrow before the draft. I can create it and send it out earlier, though, if you'd prefer. I expect it will take anywhere from an hour to two hours. It really depends on how prepared everyone is and how efficiently we can get through the draft. I'll try to keep it running as quickly as possible, because I don't think any of us want to be there for too long.

I know I've been a pain in the ass about this, but as we are just under 12 hours away, I wanted to give everyone one last reminder that the live draft will be held tonight at 8:00 PM EST. 

Some important details about the draft that may be of interest:

--The draft will be held not here, but in a separate chatroom. The link for the chatroom will be sent out to each of you by PM sometime before 8pm EST tonight. We will then start no later than 8:15pm, but ideally we will start much sooner than that. 

--We will be drafting actresses first, then actors, and then films last. Draft order will be determined using a randomizer, because it's the most fair way that I can think to do it.

--For the actors' draft, we will use the reverse of the draft order generated for actresses. A new order will then be generated for the films draft. The draft order will be cyclic, i.e.: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-8-7-6-etc. 

--We will have a draft "clock" of two minutes per pick. If two minutes have passed and you haven't picked yet, then I'll auto-draft your pick from your list. If I don't have a list for you, then Kevin Spacey will be automatically drafted to your team. Ideally, no pick will take as long as two minutes. The first few should only take five to ten seconds to make, and once we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel, I still expect it should only take thirty to forty-five seconds at most to make a pick. 

--Remember that you do not have to follow your lists exactly. In fact, I would encourage that you do not. However, you should be well-prepared for each of your picks, and again, it's important that you don't stall. 

--If fewer than four people show-up tonight, then I'm calling off the live-draft altogether and will just auto-draft for everyone. Considering nearly everyone has said they'll be able to make it tonight, I highly doubt that it'll come to this. 

--Please be prepared for the draft to take up to a couple hours. Hopefully, it will not take us that long, and I will try to move us through it as quickly as possible. However, that really depends on how efficient everyone else is. 


And other general fantasy things that you may want to keep in mind as you draft:

--Remember that for actors/actresses you are drafting individuals, not performances. So if you draft John C. Reilly, for example, you don't just get points for one of his roles; you get points for any recognition he receives for Stan and Ollie, The Sisters Brothers, Wreck-It Ralph 2, Holmes and Watson, etc. 

--Also remember that you receive points whenever one of your actors/actresses is on a nominated ensemble. So let's so you have Brian Tyree Henry, you'll get points every-time the ensemble cast of either Widows or If Beale Street Could Talk (or anything else he's in this year) is recognized. 

--If all three of your actors, all three of your actresses, or all four of your films are nominated or win at a single event, then you earn five extra bonus points for a "sweep." That may be a good thing to keep in mind as part of a draft "strategy." 

--For your actors and actresses, you will only get points for their acting nominations. If you have Lady Gaga, you will not receive points for her Best Song recognition; if you have Bradley Cooper, you will not receive points for the nominations he receives as a director, writer, and producer. (Thanks michael for reminding me of this.) 

--I don't know how else to finish this, so uh, also remember to have fun!! Obviously. That is most important.

Yeah, only acting nominations count for actors/actresses. Same deal for Bradley Cooper and any recognition he gets for producing/directing/writing ... you'd only get points for his acting nominations and wins.
