It was inevitable, but I will happily pay for it on HBOMax.

Honesty I don’t even think Nolan had as much say in the Tenet release vs the Studio compared to what was being reported. .....yet he still managed to get his film a major wide release in cinemas across the world without going to streaming like WW84 has. So I think Nolan had a lot of say in proceedings. I think you’re giving Nolan too much credit on that front. Sure, he was vocal and pushed hard, but if the studio ultimately thought the best path was something else they would have gone against his wishes.

This sucks. We don't have HBO Max here and movie theaters opening any time soon.

I'd rather watch it on the big screen next summer.

Currently at 68 on Metacritic That's a pretty big drop from the first Wonder Woman at 76. Guess this won't be one of those stealth blockbusters that critics like enough to significantly break into the awards derby. Slightly lower than Tenet at the moment on MC as well. Well, at least Jenkins has her Star Wars gig booked next. But it's a shame she couldn't seem to take this franchise to the next level like Chris Nolan did after Batman Begins made him up the ante with The Dark Knight.

This clip is... bad. Hope the whole movie isn't this cartoonish. According to Grace Randolph's review, the whole movie is kinda cartoonish. But Randolph really liked the movie and seemed to think the cartoonish aesthetic worked. It may have been the wrong choice to impress most critics though. When you are percieved as the shining light of the DCEU like Wonder Woman is , at least in terms of critical respect, having a sequel get weaker reviews than a lower-tier Marvel franchise effort like Ant-Man And The Wasp ain't really it, as far as taking the competition to Marvel.

Feels like a typical sequel slump to me. Not that reviews are bad at all, they're actually fairly positive, but the first was so enthuastically received that Jenkins and co may have the misfortune of having a slight "slump", when compared to the first.

This clip is... bad. Hope the whole movie isn't this cartoonish. The movie about an immortal Amazonian from an island of fighter women who slings around a lasso that makes it impossible to lie looks cartoonish? *faints*

I'm seeing reviews describing how this is distinctly lighter in tone than the first film - I don't mind that in principle, but I just hope the rest of the film doesn't make me cringe like this clip did.

Massive box office underperformance for it's international bow. Wonder Woman 1984 was expected to earn something in the range of 60 million dollars this weekend in it's box office release in oversess markets, but has opened with a much lower 38.5 million dollars. Main culprit seems to be a very soft China opening of 18.8 million dollars. A huge drop from the first Wonder Woman film, which opened in China at 38 million dollars. Compared to Warner Brothers summer tentpole Tenet which opened at 53 million dollars internationally (without China) and opened at 30 million dollars in China.
WB may regret potentially burning so many bridges to accommodate this movie. And Chris Nolan is probably feeling pretty smug about Tenet's international box office performance right about now.

Theaters in China are open? And if they are, I guess there are capacity restrictions...
Either way, WW really underperformed.

Local films are opening big and doing massive business, so there's no real "pandemic" excuse for China. Tracking had Wonder Woman 1984 opening at 40 million dollars in China, and it did less than half of that. Apparently the social media and critical scores in China were well beloe the first film, so I guess people simply didn't like it in China, and poor word of mouth spread fast.
